I have the splines on my 90' S4 (automatic) lubed with Moly grease (per WSM specifications) and the pinch bolt torqued to WSM torque of 59 ft-lbs.
I did this only after replacing the torque converter bearings and a rebuilt torque tube. But I would not recommend this for any car with over 75,000 miles on the converter bearings, as I feel the pinch clamp migration is due to vibration from worn deep groove torque converter bearings. Those bearings should be shot after that many miles. The noise reduction from replacing the bearings at that stage is a significant improvement.
