howling coming from temp controls???
Any idea what is causing this I had to unplug the vacume line at the brake booster just to drive the car. I replaced the Vacume check valve and had not driven the car till today.

Do we assume the vac check valve from the brake booster?............if so is it oriented correctly?
If so, cap the end of the valve and see of the 'howling' disappears...........if do its downstream of the valve, if not then its the valve or something further upstream.

It is a new ck valve, I will flip it over in the morning and see if this changes anything. I was sure I had installed it right does anybody have a picture of the correct way it goes in?

If your talking about the blue-black check valve (very common faliure point) then the black goes towards the booster and the blue goes towards the 4 way "T"
The howling probably is a leaky vacuum actuator...probably the center comb flap (thats useless anyway).....does the noise change as you change the airflow on the control head....hopefully it should.... either way its time to get a mity-vac and start checking all the acutators on the strip behind the stereo...Pirtles site has a great write up on it....

I think Brian is most likely correct on this as it certainly makes sense. Besides, as far as i'm concerned, he's proven to me that he knows what he is doing when it comes to vacuum issues!
