Default Anyone have pics of a Stripped Out (Racing) interior?

Still trying to decide what to do with the '84. My Brother In Law is suggesting change to racing...get rid of the factory seats, but a bucket in the Driver's side, folding/racing style in the passenger, and install the rear without the headrests.

Pull all the warped body panels and paint the interior.

It is a US with an Auto, but that could be conducive to a Supercharger or Turbo setup in the future.

It would not likely be raced, but more for street driving (at normal speeds, I hasten to add...). Rather than a full restore (including a new interior, new paint, etc.)

I have gone through this - if you will not be on a track, there is no reason to strip the interior and remove the creature comforts.

I have to agree with Brendan C.

I have always wanted to do a 928 with an interior like the ones done to "R Gruppe" 911s. These 911s are early style ones that have carpeted surfaces instead of rear seats, a bolted in roll bar, race style seats, different door panels and a race style steering wheel. A finished but minimalist interior in other words.

This wouldn't necassarily be cheaper. Attention to detail and "what would Porsche have done here" throughout the transformation would be key to carrying it off. As if a track junkie ordered a 928 through Porsche's "Special Works" department with the order to lighten the car for track duties too. Period correctness for the year 928 would be needed, to include wheels and the interior changes.

The R Gruppe is a 911 club that I really indentify with for their sport orientation of their 911 modifications that sometime include hard to find Porsche race parts/wheels. Excellence magazine has show cased many of these 911s and everytime I see one I daydream about doing a 928 that way...

Its one thing to make sure you can drive your "track car" to the track safely and without geting a headache, and its another to understand that sound deadening is there for a damn good reason, and so are things like carpet, etc.

I have simply decided, after much, very expensive learning, that you need two 928s. One for the track, and one for daily driving, or one for occasional street use, mostly towed to the track, with a minimalist interior, no runroof, no radio, no HVAC, and racing seats and safety equipment, and another for special drives and trips with leather everything, GPS, MP3, Bluetooth, and any number of fun gadgets. I am doing something similar to this.
