Default Super Muscle Car Shootout

I just caught Dream Car Garage's "Super Muscle Car Shootout" in which they took some of 60's legends to the track. I do like those old 60's body styles, but they certainly don't handle like a 928 and even our automatics rival their best 0-60 times. Maybe one day the car collecting community will give the 928 its due recognition? Mike

Their test numbers:
69 Camaro SS 427 0-60 in 6.05 seconds

Shelby Mustang GT-500 0-60 in 6.20 seconds

Dodge Super Bee 0-60 in 5.65 seconds

69 Pontiac GTO 0-60 in 5.40 seconds (Surprised it was that fast)

Yenko Nova 0-60 in 6.25 seconds

I'm a GTO guy, so I'm not surprised the Goat rolled out in 5.4. But the Yenko at 6.25? Driver error; bad launch; sumthin' ain't right there. That, and the GT-500 should have smoked the field. There are a number of variables to consider, too, like whether they had posi and other options (another to consider is A/C; the additional belt running the compressor was a classic HP eater, as was the weight for all of the components). They should have included a Cuda and a Copo Camaro.

Also, were these cars running legacy tires or newer skins?

They were running original style tires and the host posted his best times of three runs...he did seem to have trouble launching a few. MM
