Dome lights won't turn off after hatch fix
I got my hatch mechanism to work by adjusting the lower mechanism all the way up, and putting a rubber strip (cut section from a rubber hose) on the trailing edge of the upper latch to cant it forward.
Hatch works great but my dome lights stay on .
Any ideas on what I can do to get the dome light switch in the hatch latch to actuate?

Can you get it - the switch - to work manualy? That will tell you if you have a bad switch, or if it's actually an adjustment problem. These are fun to chase down.

Hi Rod,
The dome lights functioned properly up until I got my hatch release to work last night, so I'm thinking (hoping) that by adjusting the latch mechanism I somehow got the dome light switch out of whack to where it's not cutting the circuit when closed. But your right, I'll check it manually just to make sure.

Adam - it may have disintegrated - short term fix - pull the wire off the connector at the bottom. The switch is a normally open (with hatch closed) and closed only with hatch open. It just grounds the brown/white wire.
Its kind of an "open air switch" - you can pretty much see how it operates plunger & contact plate with spring, sometimes the spring breaks, sometimes the shaft breaks... usually when it shorts out you need to replace something... since you were adjusting things - maybe not...
