Default ANY INTEREST IN A SOCAL GTG?

I'll be in town, Long Beach, from Weds through Sunday with the ALMS Grand Prix...
I will have lots of free time around this event to 'socialize' and would love to meet some fellow '928 Renners'.

Any interest?

Yea...so looking at the poll in another thread, California has the highest number of Rennlist 928's. (who needed a poll to tell anyone that?) I'm thinking in southern half of California alone, realistically there has to be better than 1000 running 928's. (I'm sure Jim would correct me and say it's quite a larger number). We can always figure that half of the 928's that came into the US went right to so Cal throughout its 18 year production run, so there has to be 1000's of them down there...right? So let's just say from Ventura County to San Diego County there are 500 928's roaming the roads (still a very small number I think). So there should be at least 52 of them ready to hook up with you from the Rennlist that we know of. But maybe you went ahead and posted to the SOCAL board where last I knew, they had over 300 members, so now you have an army of 928's ready to get out and meet you. Unrealistic? OK, let's take half of that number figuring that some may be a tad busy...HELL, let's go with 3/4's having prior commitments or being more than an hour away. Now, that leaves about 75 to 100 928's ready to hook up and show how much they love their 928's and meeting other 928 owners. Hmmm...wait, maybe we should consider that gas prices may be too high...or you know, there always is that 2% chance of rain...hmmmm we had better cut that number down to 1/2 again to around 37 cars. Surely out of the 1000's of 928's in so Cal, 37 cars should be a breeze to snap into a meet up..don'tcha think? I guess we should probably figure unforseen instances (and unmentionable too!) which would most likely cut that number in half, yea yea, thats looks good, about 17 or 18 928's for a gathering....uhm, geez, can't think of anything else...

So let us know how that goes for ya!

Kim, I have my daughter and am doing spring break stuff with her. Promises made a long time ago. I might be able to do a night thing (Friday or Sat.).

If it's cloudy, fuggedaboutit, if it's sunny, fuggedaboutit... It seems to take an act of God to do this, and He's a little busy right now.

Default LONG BEACH OR BUST!

Keith: I appreciate your insight. The way I figure is that Portland to Long Beach is 988 miles. I'm flying into SNA @ 1020 tomorrow, which is 22 miles further. That makes it an easy 1000 miles from Portland. AND, since you 'Got The Speed', I calculate that you could do some late evening 'Renning', then head out ~midnight, travelling a scenic 100 mph down the coast, allowing for a 20 minute 'human needs' break and meet me at the gate!

The closest to PDX I have planned for this year is SEA in Oct (Macreel and Heinrich are already scheming a GTG), ANC in May and MRY/SJC in Oct...

Soooo, you in?

alex70: Here's the link to the race info, if you are interested... (gotta luv that avatar!)

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=48316

PerryS4: Whatever works for you. I'm trying to locate an 80-400 lens today, but looks like I might be shopping in CA (arrrgh!) I will spend time in the hot pit, then practicing my 'shooting', so lots of flexibility for this venue!

ibkevin: Refer to event link above!

Bill Swift: I agree -- life is short! Sometimes ya gotta say 'wtf' & grab it by the. . .uh, whatever works!

PM-ing my info... to those who can make it, could be fun!

Anyone else. . . OCBen... Dr Bob???

BTW, if you have access to a sailboat -- PM me STAT!!!!

(OK, back to taxes)...

Best,
Kim

whats wrong with my rambling paragraph with the run-on sentences, poor punctuation and useless content?

I was just reminiscing 'bout the old days of so Cal get togethers. I hope it turns out different for you RSKY BIZ.

Its got to be a crime that as many 928's as there are in so Cal, that only a handful at best ever make it to a get together...barring Sharktoberfest of course....which really should draw triple of what it does.

We here in Santa Barbara are often reluctant to identify with "Southern California" but for 928 organizational events I think it's appropriate, and there are a good concentration of them here. I see a half dozen on a regular basis, and i'd wager that there are a good number of projects and queens I'd never see. Unfortunately I suspect that their owners are not the typical, socialiable 928 enthusiast. I am still hoping to get something organized locally here that would pull them in...
