Default Headlight assembly

I took the plunge and removed the headlight assembly.... Taking the PorKen Hella path.... Like the looks and love the weight reduction.

So - if anyone in the Seattle area wants the old assembly it's free to anyone that wants to pick it up...

April is 928 diet month - still trying to hit the 2700lb goal..

Steve,

It's from an '83 US, it will have the chrome rings and the sealed beams. Otherwise I dout it would be free!

True - plus I'd rather spend time taking things apart and putting them back together verses selling and shipping them..

These are the lights I'm installing - will post pics once it's complete.... will also be removing the driving lights, fog lights, and replacing the turn indicators.... basically copying what others have already done.

Since I drive my car to the track - need to keep it "Near" street legal..

Chuck,

Have you removed the aluminum bumpers, F/R, yet? That's about 60lbs, not including the fog lights!

So Ken - do you have production up on the headlights? I may need two sets.

Brendan,

I haven't done anything with the headlights since I took the pictures, above. I did a quick test fit of one side on my '86. The ABS pump is in the way, so it will require some more thought.

I'm getting the bug to start purging on my '86, and I miss the HID lighting, so I may revisit it, soon.

LOL - The driver is always the first consideration - it's much easier to remove 25lbs from the person than the car... I usually start with the Twinky diet.

I have two with gaping holes where the headlights go. With one I can shape those holes to suit better covers.

How would you reshape the aluminum to make it work better with your HID ideas Ken?

I actually like Ken's original covers and plan to try that approach.

Hey now I like those better then the other ones. I didn't see those yet.

And I can bend back the rear portion to make more room for the light higher in the hole.

Ken - what is the difference between the covers? How is the second mounted?
