Your absolute perfect 928 build-sheet and options?
#18
'87-'89 (i.e, no airbag or PSD)
5 speed
no side mouldings
metallic silver, grey, green or blue
interior not cashmere or linen
LSD
a driver, not a show car
heated seats
memory seats
no rear a/c
Those last 3 I'm flexible on. Still probably a small list of cars that fit that, and mine is pretty close.

My perfect 928... where does one begin?
I'm very pleased (and consider myself blessed) to have my current GT, so let me first say I'm quite content with what I have. I love the color combo and lack of side mouldings, and about the only change to it would be the addition of sport seats and lots 'o leather.
It's close to, but not quite, my ultimate 928. In this fantasy world exists the following:
95 GTS 5-speed
Velvet Red Metallic or Midnight Blue Metallic
Black full leather w/sport seats
No side mouldings
6.4 liter stroker w/Sterling's Variocam (I like normal aspiration, no offense to the forced induction guys)
S4 rear cap (no GTS reflector strip)
Bilstein/Eibach suspension
Porsche Cup 2's in 9" x 17" at all four corners
HID driving and headlights
LED bulbs in all the markers/taillights/interior
No rear air
Rear wiper delete
GT resonators and RMB
Yup, that about does it.

I'd say I'm getting close. While a *perfect* GTS 5-speed (silver, black or white w/any color interior)) is one day going to (please) fall my way, I'd say my 1987 5-speed FAST928 is getting close, while taking the normally aspirated approach.
It's getting the 5.4L heart transplant. It's got the LSD. No side mouldings. It has many of the DEVEK goodies (i.e. - momo wheel, short shift kit, pedals, radiator, undertray, rising rate fuel). I have the Sports seats. Nice wheels. (decided to go the with 17" twists with Kumhos rather than bigger 18-19" due to too many potholes in SF at the time.). It's got the headers. It's got the mean custom exhaust. New S4 brakes. Suspension is in great shape. It's got the custom Stereo with Nakamichi head unit, custom JL sub in back, Helix amp, Rainbow speakers, etc. I put a completely new interior, carpet kit, etc. - including a re-do of the seats. All other maintenace has been impeccable. All-in-all it's getting close.

I might have to edit this a few times until I have it complete, But here it goes...
- 1994/1995 GTS with S4 rear bumper cover
- Possibly a DEVEK stroker engine, optimized for torque (not that I'd need it, but it would be fun to have... reliable power, undetectible by smog testers)
- Upgraded emissions system with hi-flow metal cats, and chip tuning on the dyno (+30hp with lower emissions on standard S4/GT/GTS)
- Automatic transmission with dynamic kick-down
- Same suspension set-up as Bill Ball has it in his car now
- Iris blue metallic, gunmetal grey metallic, or dark paint-to-match, with extra thick and glossy clear coat
- Painted centers of the wheels, matching body color
- Wheel center caps with colored Porsche crest
- No side moldings
- Porsche Exclusive wide front fenders and wider wheels
- Euro side flashers, but no US side markers.
- Amber part of tail lights either smoked or clear
- Clear turn signal lenses and Euro trim
- No US bumperettes
- Depending on exterior color, either Carrara grey, classic grey, or natural all leather and burlwood interior, maybe with contrasting stitching in a few strategic areas (but definitely not all seams!!!)
- Matching TechArt Airbag steering wheel
- Luggage cover, roof liner, sun shades, hatch panels and A-Pillars in matching Alcantara; maybe also rear quarters (or at least the upper parts of them)
- Heated supple leather seats, with adjustable lumbar support, and maybe in the updated look by Paul Champagne
- Modified shifter plate and shifter (no shift plate slider, like I have it in my car)
- No sunroof (don't need it)
- No rear AC
- No rear wiper
- Upgraded amplifier and speaker system hidden under original style grilles; the latter painted in interior color
- Center console upgraded with top of the line sound and navigation system, with bluetooth connection to cell phone
- SharkFin roof antenna in body color instead of standard one
- Fully integrated, invisible Valentine 1 style radar detector
- Some kind of hidden defense against Police laser (LIDAR) and instant on radar
Then, just for the sake of collecting:
78 928 in petrol blue with black/white Pascha, or silver with black/blue Pascha, 5-Speed with wide rear seats, no side moldings, 16-inch phone dials, all original.

What Shane said: '88 club sport guards red, can can red full leather interior, euro spec of course. CS decal in grey on the fender. The CS came without sunroof, rear air, rear wiper, rub strips already.
p.s. and a good pair of sunglasses

First thing to come to mind as I read the title was; 88 CS. Seems like shane hit it.
But...
I'd like mine in Wimbeldon green with classic grey sport seats. Maybe a strosek/koenig widebody kit.
