Default What happened to the Katrina 928s?

What happened to theHurricane Katrina 928s? I'd heard that several were affected by the flooding. Anyone seen them on eBay? Has this been the concern people thought it would be? Has anyone bought salty parts?

I heard there was an '88 S4 Silver/Grey, 5-speed, 40K miles that was cleaned up and sent to Arizona to be sold. Last I heard, someone actually bought it for full price.

FeedNFrenzy has his at the body shop being painted. He has put countless hours into the car and it is coming out nice. The entire interior has been gutted and redone. The seats look great. Hopefully he will chime in soon.

In feb of '06 I looked at a white '90 or '91. It had 74K IIRC. They were asking 12,900. I ran a carfax and it came back having been in disaster area. It was being sold in Cal.

Can you believe that? The tool set and a bunch of other things floated away, but the buyer still went for it.

If you add the purchase price plus what I'm spending to get the car "up to snuff," some would say that I got screwed. However, if it had had salt water damage, I'd have filled it with ammonium nitrate fertilizer and blown it to heck long before now. These cars are bad enough with just regular air humidity...having salt water in a 928....I can't even imagine that it could be salvaged. Think of the wiring panel/fuse board alone!
