The japanese "safety" inspection rules that once three years old models must be inspected every two years and 10 year old models every year and repaired often at great expense makes registering a car in Japan EXPENSIVE parking is such an issue that you must show proof that you have a parking space. Many parking lots will refuse to park LARGE cars. The annual registration tax is based on engine size several hundred dollars per year. The luxury tax on all new car sales is 5% I presume that imported used cars also get taxed. You would need to meet ALL SMOG REQUIREMENTS add fender flares, side marker, and an extra O 2 sensor and when all done 928s sell for maybe 1/2 what they do in the US ...
