Crap, now I have to find out if I have "dark blue", "Navy", or "midnight blue"

Well, just from looking on it on the screen (which is a very inaccurate method for checking color) I believe the closest to my seats is the 925 Champagne II, but also could be Cashmere or Cashmere II if it faded over the years...although I have no idea if these colors were available in MY 81.

Bumping this back to the top.
I picked up a pristine brown vinyl dash off craigslist yesterday for a few dollars and will be taking Dan's advice an turning it into a navy blue dash. At the same time I'm going to take my black pod and change it to the original color also.
Wish me luck, and I'll post pictures as I proceed.

I used these folks and was very pleased.

I got some dye that was wrong, my fault, and they let me return it and sent me the correct version and paid for the shipping. Can't beat that service. I redid the rear seats in the 87 to match the new front leather and I think they look pretty good.
I've included a couple of images, not the best, but perhaps you can get an idea.

What is interesting about this process. Paul Champaign was here in town a month back with his Porsche Interior Color chart and swatches. We could not match up anything in my car. The seats are not in there, nor was the door/dash/pod colors.
He says he's got one other customer with the same seats as mine and he has not been able to match it. Said something about a special order color or what not.
I'm going to send a sample someplace and see what they can come up with and go from there.

Man, I would love to have that color blue in a 928, I think it's fantastic.
Here's a link to a recent vinyl dash re-paint I did with SEM products. Fortunately they had a stock color that was a perfect match for BMW Parchment
