I decided to completely disassemble the transmission after the exploding differential.
Made a custom tool to pull the reverse gear shaft, but I'm have trouble getting the gear set apart.
Does anyone have a trick way to remove the lock nut on the end of the gear set shaft?
If not does any one own (hint-loan?) or knows were to source the 9218 and 9219 tool?

Take a look at this old thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/207223-pops-out-of-2nd-gear-when-i-let-off-the-gas.html
I tried to find factory tools few years ago but didn't find any sources. Didn't look too hard either as custom tool was easier option. Since those pictures were taken lock nut holder has been modified at other end to accept 50mm socket. This makes it easy to tighten nut to correct torque value when torque wrench can be used on special nut socket instead on ring piece.

Thanks Erkka.
Fabricating those tools are a bit beyond my capabilities with the equipment I don't have!
So is everyone just rebuilding older transmissions and not taking a part the new ones?
Anyone have a tool source??

Don't know. That nut is to be torqued to 221ft/lbs!
Sure wish they keep with the older style box and just used an spring clip.

Tools arrived yesterday. Thanks again Scott!!
What a PITA it was to move that nut!
Cheap Harborfreight 12ton press came in handy to press off the gears.
Below is a picture of the gear set. Wonder why some of the syncro rings are brass while others are steel. Someone already here?
The rev. syncro ring is a bit worn, but $210 for a new one?!!
