Default My Murf Super Charger Experience

My Murf Super Charger Experience

I decided I wanted a car that was as aggressive as it looked. I truly love the look of my S4 and think the design is the coolest car ever. Thinking how the “Tool Man” would think, I needed more power. I had done my research on the Murf Kit and decided it was the way to go. I read everything ever written by Tim on the Renn List and was impressed with what I read. I contacted past buyers of the kit and impressed again. I then made a few phone calls to Tim and we talked about it. He was just great and it was like talking to Professor Ferdinand Porsche. I also talked to Carl Fausett at 928 Motor Sports who is the vendor for the kit and again was very impressed.

So I covered all my bases and my own research showed this was the best way to go for me. I called 928 Motor Sports showed them the money and then talked to Tim. Tim lives within driving distance of me and I wanted to see the finished product, hear it run, touch it and do the Tool Man grunt. Tim then suggested while I was there that we could just install the kit on my car. Now, here I have the opportunity to have the great Tim Murphy install the kit on my car and now I have the real blood of this Super Charger King on and in my car. WAY COOL!!!!! Tim also called in his friends to help with the install. I must say I wished I lived closer to these guys. I could see nothing but great times to be had drinking beer and telling all kinds of tall tales. What a great bunch of guys, in-between beers and tall tales all helped with the install and it went very well. We even had a few Corvette guys show up, they did not help but they did drink the beer. You know how they are.

I was so very impressed with the parts. It was easy to see that there was a lot of thought put into this. The engineering that went into this system is just amazing. It was so cool to listen to Tim talk about the engineering that went into it. He talked about what worked and what did not, and his frustration of what did not and how he would take it all off and just stop. Only to then think about it and make a change and then BAM it worked. I am sure there were a lot of nights of frustration and thinking things over. I am very pleased with how it looks and works. It is quite simple in how it works but was a long road to get there.

Tim and his wife put us up for the night and staying in a 5 star hotel would have been a step down. His wife was a fantastic hostess and the children were great. My wife had a great time playing with the girls and it was just a wonderful time.

After lunch with all the guys we then headed for home. It was Interstate and Turnpike for us all the way home. Going through Illinois on a toll road was a gas killer. It seemed like every few miles we had to stop and pay a toll. This of course meant every few miles I would get a chance to stomp it. It is just amazing what this car can now do, stomping on the gas after paying a toll is like take off on a jet. 1st gear runs out very fast, 2nd gear is where lift off really happens. The pull is just amazing nothing else can be really said about it, just amazing. It was not possible on the way home to test what the pull in 3rd gear is like. All that have the autos like me know that 3rd in the power range of the auto is way above the speed limit. From watching COPS I know we can not out run the Police and getting cuffed and stuffed was not on my list of things to do. But I really, really REALLY wanted to feel the pull of 3rd gear with the Super Charger at 4000 rpm. I will soon, but need to find the right spot. Tim has taken a great car that when introduced was a Super Car and has made it again a Super Car in today’s world. A BIG THANK YOU to Tim Murphy

400+whp is addictive.....very nice......3rd gear in stock S4 autos tends to be the flat gear.....where power really drops off.....mostly because its a 140mph gear......with an extra 130+ whp...3rd becomes much more useful...... But I did manage to get mine to 120 yesterday in 3rd.... :>) On a closed course of course

Glad you had a positive experience. I have nothing but respect for Tim and his product.
I'd recommend it to anyone interested in more power from their S4.

By the way here is a clip from when I first ran my Murf sc at an open road race
( at 6,000+ ft elevation ), just to give you a taste of what it's able to do now.

I hope to get over 190 mph this summer...

Nice Cliff. You move quickly! So the 5speed is now not first on the list anymore I guess. Did you get a ride in Tim's Car?
