I was amazed that this car was still running with all of the cracked sheathing/insulation and bare wires adjacent to each other in the 21 year old harness. I spent a whole evening with a soldering iron, a heat gun, and a bunch of adhesive filled shrink tubing of different diameters just repairing the harness. I had three injectors, the idle switch wire, and idle stabilizer connection all with bare copper wires exposed. Last year i repaired the MAF connection when it was found in the same condition.

I would suggest that anyone with one of these older models should do an intake R&R and see where you stand with the wiring harness.

So Ben- I guess you like red?
That looks pretty dam nice
I would powder coat the strut bar yellow to match the oil filler cap.

May not be my place to say, but be wary of the k/n filter. Over oiling will ruin your MAF. That really is one hellofa nice looking motor!

Looks awesome ! Nice to see another 85-86 intake with "the treatment".

If i may be so bold to suggest

http://jageng.com/garage9/product_in...143450621640e2

a billet oil cap for the final treatment. After I did my intakes the oil filler cap stuck out like a sore thumb. I have had many complements since replacing with the billet + crest.

Ben,

Looks awesome, well done! Outstanding choice on the color combination too...

Not that I'm biased or anything...

Agreed. The 1st thing the DFW group did was toss mine away.

Otherwise that looks fantastic.

What's this about the K&N?

Mine came with one, I was happy to see it because I knew I could clean it myself. Then I read
somewhere that someone had a dyno run better with the stock orange filter.

Any other info on the K&N? Are they only bad if you over oil them?
