Since I did a bit of research on the models. I wanted a GT or GTS. Reasoning is, the 928 from 1990-1994 was the fastest production Porsche imported to the US. Oh the turbo was close, and the 911 of the 1991 model year has a better lateral G acceleration. But nothing put it together like the 928. If it seems we're a bit defensive about our choice, I understand that. By 1989, the 928 was a legitimate supercar that is now languishing in the depths of value.
I don't join or hang out much in the clubs of Porsche-dom. That insulates me from a lot of the snide remarks from the VW variant crowd. I've never encountered any bias, but I know it's out there. My first Porsche was a 914, so I'm either an iconoclast, or outcast. Maybe both.

I remember when I had gotten my first 928, I was quite proud of it..in a trance actually. Aside from my Porsche mechanic asking me why I would actually buy one, as they will nickel and dime you to death...and they should all be driven straight off a cliff, I had parked mine right in front of Starbucks one particular morning. While waiting in line, two guys walked up behind me and got in line as well. I had overheard one say, "Did you see that Porsche out front?" The other guys responded with, ""Thats an old mans car." I just stood there facing forward and thought, this may be a tough life with this car.
I think that made an impression upon me, because I took on the task of making the car look as best I could as well as trying to modernize it. I must have succeeded as I had never heard another negative comment since then. There is the possibility that I may just be deaf to it now
So quite the opposite has happened over the years...seems folks try to buy my cars now. I was asked several times if I wanted to sell the 82 and I get asked quite frequently about the GTS. As a matter of fact, just yesterday I was out in front of the house washing the car when two guys pulled over and one asked if I want to sell my Porsche. After I said, "No Way!", he commented with "it's a Beauty!"
Just wait until they come out with the new front engine V8 in a couple of years, suddenly people will start to appreciate the 928...again.
At any rate, I have ALWAYS heard much more good than bad over the 928.

What I can not understand is why anyone gives a s**t what someone else thinks about their choices??? Do you want something to impress someone else or to impress yourself? Look around. Do you see other people you think are not as beautiful as other people? Well, good luck, 'cause some of those people's parents thought they were more beautiful than you and those unbeautiful children of theirs are beautiful to them. So maybe you are the one who is not so beautiful. And who cares?? Are you beautiful? Well then. what do you care what some other idiot thinks about your choices or you? Ignore the ding-a-lings. If you're happy with your choices, what's the difference?

Keith they probably said "old man's car" because only an old man with money could afford it! Besides, I'm not sure I would take to heart anything I overheard in a Starbuck's shop, LOL.
And yes, I agree, with all the talk about a new 928, the current 928's will see a rebirth.

I have to agree with Ron, I wanted a 928 since 1977, when I had a 914-6 (cheers Doc!). Even back then, it got a lot of flack from the posers driving 911's for the 'image'. It seemed to me then, as now, most of the people driving Porsches didn't deserve them- they buy them to look cool, and have no clue as to what a great car they have. People who know and love cars for the unique 'feel' each car communicates with the driver, will enjoy all of Porsche's offerings, each for different reasons...

Hate or negative comments? Nope, not yet.
Did have one 964/996 owner tell us the other evening that the 928 is much better built than his 2 911's.

It's not a Porsche. It's a keeper. I've found that I would rather talk 928s with people who know their Porsches. 'Cause sometimes the porcupine joke is true.
BTW Tony Lapine was right. You have to go into the corners faster if you want to enjoy the full effects of natural male enhancement in a 928.[ Not to be confused with the porcupine joke.]
I'd also like to let you in on another little secret. It wasn't until I owned a 911 that I fully appreciated my 928. Same cloth, different molds.
