Now I need to decide between repair or replace.

To the repair guys out there, how well does the repair hold up? From a price standpoint, it’s certainly tempting… anyone have issues or failures?

To the C&R all AL replace guys, did you notice an improvement in cooling performance. I could use a little extra cooling since my runs a tick on the hot side. I was leaning toward replace until reading this thread:

If worse comes to worse and I can't get this fixed in the next two weeks. Do you think I could make it to SITM and back with just occasional top offs? It’s about 1500 miles round trip Do these things typically just leak a little or start small and get big?

Mine weeped for months before I finally got around to having a new end tank put on it - maybe I was just lucky. The fix is as good as new (and I didn't have to jig around trying to make a universal radiator fit my particular application). The OEM radiator, coolant thermostat, flaps, fans and oil thermostat have ample capacity to keep the engines at the correct operating temp when operating properly. Maybe your gauge is not reading properly (check with an IR gauge), maybe your radiator is a bit clogged (mine was even through it had always had regular coolant changes). But if you do have a problem, that in itself is not, I don't think, a reason for opting for an aftermarket radiator. Just get the OEM system working as it is meant to, I reckon. Radiator out (2hrs), off to repairers and back again (2 days turn around, say), radiator back in and coolant etc (3 hrs) - see if you can get it done before going to NC :-) :-) Good luck

Thanks Dave, that's just what I wanted to hear. Having a few weeks to decide will give me a chance to consult with the gang at SITM.

My temp was allways rocky steady and level before adding a supercharger. At the same time I replaced the t-stat, water pump, and temp sensor. So who knows, it could be any or a cobination of the three. I never hit red light, but get above the 2/3'rd mark regulary when on it.

I know I need to do something, but I'd like to drive it just a little before R&R the supercharger again.
