Anyone with an S4 that has its original radiator r12 / voltage / firing order stickers in place that could take a photo and post it for me? Perhaps with a ruler or two for scale to show positioning? I want to install the metal foil decals I ordered a long time ago and get 'em in the right place.
From some scattered pictures I've seen, the high voltage warning is centered and placed along the anterior edge of the radiator. R12 fill sticker of course passenger side and firing order driver side, but how far from the landmarks? Are they consistently located, or were they were slapped on by someone whose positioning depended on how close it was to closing time, or Oktoberfest? Might be an interesting comparison....
Are the stickers NLA?
Voltage is 964 701 163 00
Firing order is 928 006 105 03
Firing order one seems to be about $10 from a few price lists online.
Edit: nevermind - just realised Rob is asking about position in the latest post.
Rob - I'm doing similar work on the stickers as well.. As others said in previous threads, some are still avail from Porsche, others not.
Did you order from the guy in SA? Did he ever correct the typos and the incorrect size issues? Did he really print out original looking VIN plate stickers? I got a lot of crap for even contemplating that here. I understand it is illegal to reproduce the VIN plate sticker, but the original style for the S4/GT is NLA. What you get is one that looks like the one on the GTS. You might want to compare yours.
If the eBay source did correct the size/typos can you send me the link to his Ebay store. I want to do the same thing. Especially if he can do custom work. Unique special ordered cars like mine with one of colors cannot get a replacement paint sticker from Porsche. Would be great to get one.
Rob I'll take some pictures when I get home tonight with a measuring tape for placement.
Along the same lines, does anyone have a good picture or suggestions on where to buy the coolant reservoir sticker?
I carefully removed the old reservoir sticker a few weeks ago, and have it in the que to get scanned and duplicated here. The original is paper with a varnish finish on it. I'm not sure how I'll get the same paper in yellow, but obviously the black lettering will be no problem. I gave thought to adding a thin laminate face on one side, or actually laminating it so it will stay pristine looking. It might be worth asking at the regular vendors to see if it's still available from Porsche.
Rob, let me know if you want to get placement dims off of my car. All stickers on the radiator are in their original positions.

Thank you for the reply. If possible can you post the part number for this, mine unfortunately broke apart during a drive and the other half which had the part number went missing.
I can find out if it is available through any of the sources we have and post back.
I'm afraid I got nuthin'. I took a ton of pictures of my original decals with rulers from different angles and sent them to him but never heard anything back. Dunno if he ever did any VIN stickers or not. His ebay seller name was sbagal, there are no active items being sold by him right now. There's another guy with this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...#ht_783wt_1165
But no metal foil, just yellow.
These guys look to have metal foil: http://www.carclassic.biz/, maybe they have a source for reproducing proper ones if they know there are 20+ people willing to order....
Bob- I took a bunch of photos of your engine but managed to miss the radiator, would love another shot at it sometime. You back in-state again?
Nope, these were from an Ebay set I bought back in 2006. With my luck the rad will now blow a side tank seal, but you rolls the dice and takes yer chances....
Who's got an original-with-part-number refrigerant sticker?
Bumping this thread. I'm in the process of communicating with car-bone.pl to get a pile of radiator stickers. In particular, what they don't have 'in stock' are the refrigerant stickers. Since I have 6 928s in the shop right now, I figured no big deal, I'll snap some pictures and that's that. Well, not so fast. I hate it when "easy stuff" becomes a quest...
None of the 6 has an intact refrigerant sticker. In fact only my '91 has one and it's 1/4 gone. All the others are gone or replaced by 'random-ac-shop-r134' stickers. My GTS and '89 have replacement rads with no stickers.
Looking at this thread (and others) I see a tremendous variation in the refrigerant amount displayed on the sticker. Far more variation that is in the WSM (IIRC). For example: I see 37 OZ r12, 42.3 OZ r12. My '91 displays 40.5 OZ r12.
Do we have a comprehensive list?
From this or other threads:
'87 to mid-'88 42.3 OZ r12 (928.701.141.06 ?) for the 6E171 compressor with rear A/C. Jim Corenman posted a picture of a 42.3 OZ r12 928.701.141.06 but, unsure if his '88 or '90. Probably '88
mid'88 to '89 40.5 OZ r12 (928.???.???.??) for the 6E171 compressor with rear A/C (why different from previous and the same as the 10PA20?)
Missing:
'90 40.5 OZ r12 ???? (928.701.141.08 ???) for the 10PA20 compressor with rear A/C.
From my stash of 928s and pictures:
'91 to '93 (early) 40.5 OZ r12 (928.701.141.08) for the 10PA20 compressor with rear A/C. (I would expect this to include '90, but haven't seen photo evidence.)
And of course these three variations for non-rear A/C 928s.
'87 to mid-'88 37 OZ r12 (928.701.141.05 ??) for the 6E171 compressor w/o rear A/C (looks like they pre'-'87 sticker is 37OZ 928.701.141.02.)
mid'88 to '89(?) ?? OZ r12 (928.???.???.??) for the 6E171 compressor w/o rear A/C
'90 ?? OZ r12 (928.???.???.??) for the 10PA20 compressor w/o rear A/C.
And last but not least, mid-'93 to '94 and '95. Right this moment, I don't remember when the 'r134 change-over happened. Maybe for the mid-'93s, but I seem to recall it was mid-'94 when the pollen filter was added.
I've looked though the majority of my entire stash of ~30k pictures of 928s going back to 1998. I'm surprised to see how few of the radiators pictured in them have even a fraction of an original refrigerant sticker.
Below is a picture of my original "thick" sticker and the template I made from it. It took a lot of magnifying glass and playing with photo shades/color to get it. But I'm 99% sure it's right. This is for a late 93 with rear A/C.
Good luck with carbone. When you order, please see if you can convince them to also produce the firing order sticker on the same foil-looking paper. For what ever reason, they chose a silver looking color.
