BTW, The 929 is a special designation for 928 for people like me who "fat finger" keys while typing. Similar to the 828. All good cars though.

Interesting. Isn't Jim ( as you put it) "ripping off" Porsche since the main reason to get "his" manuals is to get the Porsche workshop manuals that he copied and has since also added new additional material?

Don't fret it too much about Porsche - those WSM's have been out of print for years - Porsche doesn't sell them. I have a hard copy 9 vol set that I paid dearly for, plus Jim's CD's. The CD's compile all sorts of additional Porsche produced and non-Porsche produced technical info. Jim isn't a pirate - he is doing a substantial service to the community that Porsche itself no longer offers. I have zero issues with Jim's efforts.

We're all thieves. There is very little out there that is original, be it product or ideas. Consider the possibility that the person who bought an original set of WSMs has seen them devalued by all of the data that has subsequently been abstracted from the originals and then put in a different form by others.
Carl Faucett has spent a lot of time figuring out how to make some really nice and needed parts. And I've bought a more than a few of them. But if I see a photo of his that shows me how it's done and I can then do it myself, guess what?
Just my two cents worth.

I figure I'm not paying Jim for the content, I'm paying for the scanning and OCR to searchable text and indexing of content I already have a right to use.
I'm also not saying screw Porsche, just that they are big boys and have the responsibility to protect their intellectual property, not me. My interest is supporting and promoting the 928, and putting manuals, even CD copies, into the hands of as many owners as possible is good for the 928 community.

"I'm also not saying screw Porsche, just that they are big boys and have the responsibility to protect their intellectual property, not me."
So you're saying Porsche should be taking legal action against those
here that are violating copyrights and also against Rennlist for allowing
promotion of same and because they haven't it's O.K., right?
