Tarek still comes around here but he hasn't posted for awhile for whatever reason:

Used Mothers Metal polish on a lot of mine. It works great but you have to touch up once a month.
I don't mind that.
I almost didn't click on this link................dirty mind and all.

SeanR. I used the mothers aluminum polish and followed up by a good cleaning until a white towel came off clean, and then I waxed it. The wax should keep the oxidation to a minimum.

VERY nice, Randy! It's tough to get all the metal bits to look right. I notice your cam cover rubber plug strips are also a nice chromate, and the intake boots on the runners are correct. But please do me a favor and break loose with a few bucks to replace your washer reservoir cap.

You will find that that stuff works great on damn near everything.

I actually did replace that cap after the pic was taken. This is all ancient history now, as all that work saw an unhappy end. The engine still looks good though:

Is the '78 steel rod stronger than the later aluminum one? I've read that it is a weak point. In fact, my rod is bent! It looks OK to the eye, but if you runn a finger along the underside you can feel ripples in the middle and in my perception I can feel that flexing under hard cornering.
