Default Jay Wellwood's S4: SOLD!!!

I flew down to Little Rock and picked up the car on Friday Just arrived today from the LONG drive back.

Did I do a PPI? Nope. Did I commit to buying before even looking at it? Yep. Did I have a return ticket just in case? NOPE. Sometimes you just gotta say, WTF, make your move.

Here is a short run down of the trip,

Friday- It was nice to meet Jay, I only wish I had more time in Little Rock to check out the sites. The food at Jays Restaurant is very good. The Tbelt tension light is on but Jay said he had the tension checked before.

The first night I hoped to make Albuquerque but I ran into snow/freezing rain just inside of the New Mexico border. I had booked the Sheraton in ABQ for $60 on Priceline but didn't make it. I stayed at a Holiday in for $59+ tax.

Saturday- I made it to ABQ around 1:00pm. My Dad was going to meet me in the morning but he missed his flight. I decided to have the tires re balanced do to a shimmy at speed. When the pulled the tires the were worn badly in the inside and one tire had a bubble. The tire guys loved the Fikse Wheels.

I was lucky they had 2 Z rated General tires that are close to the Kumho tread in the rear. $260 later the car was driving great. I stayed at the ABQ Hyatt for $60 a night (Priceline). My Dad arrived late.

Sunday- Dads bag was lost and we give up waiting for it around 1pm and head out. We stop and buy some clothes for him and AA will send the bag to Seattle. Easy drive cruising at 80mph. The A/C was freezing through the mojave desert. We arrive late in Barstow CA and stay at the Red Roof Inn for $65 a night.
.
Monday- We head off for Sacramento so Dad catch a plane to Seattle, Drop him off around 5:00pm and head north. Thanks to a speeding Honda I follow him driving 95mph all the way into Oregon. I stopped around 2AM in Albany OR. Holliday Inn wanted $129 a night, I asked for the week?. Stayed at La Quinta for $79+ tax.

Tuesday- Left around 10am. Took the scenic route through The Dalles. The gas attendant in Hood River loved the car. Took 197 to Yakima (nice twisty road) arrived home about 3pm.

The car,
Fikse Rims with really grab people's attention.
Not sure if I like the Cat Bypass/RMB combo, Miss the stock sound.
GTS brake upgrade is a great.
Love the Momo wheel look not sure on the feel.

Work the car needs,
Tbelt, throttle cable needs replacing, Air blower is cutting in and out, Horn does not work, Seat switch (back is forward). Set of good tires. Couple of other things but the car runs great.

Here are some of Jay's pics, I will post some new ones tomorrow after a quick detail tomorrow.

We'll miss Jay here on the 928 forum - he was one of the first ones here when the forums started up - but we can still visit him in OT where he mixes it up with the best of 'em.

Nice car JB, and glad to see it went to a Rennlist enthusiast!

Wow - I'm surprised that Jay is getting out of 928s... well, hopefully not for long. He might realize what he's missing... I remember seeing the car in Wichita two years ago - can't miss the black with yellow piping. I also saw the 968 in its original condition.

JB: Congratulations to your new ride! I admire your courage to drive it that far with a timing belt light on - I don't think I'd have the guts to do that... Glad you made it home, and hope you can get this take care of soon.

Awesome car!
Roadtrips are always fun.

Maybe with more interior pics it will look better, but that wood shifter looks out of place....just sayin.

Congrats!

"How many miles? And *** on now...DID YA GET A DEAL!!!"

125,000 miles, At the price Jay was asking it was a deal already

"Bring it out to the PacNW track attack on April 14th in Spokane."

Not until September I am 928 rich and cash poor right now, I won't be able to get it things up to snuff in time.

"Congratulations to your new ride! I admire your courage to drive it that far with a timing belt light on - I don't think I'd have the guts to do that... Glad you made it home, and hope you can get this take care of soon."

I have parked it for now and hopefully will sell one of my other cars to refill the budget

"Maybe with more interior pics it will look better, but that wood shifter looks out of place....just sayin."

I thought the same when looking at the pics but in person it does match but I am going to swap it with my other 87.

Damn, how did you do that? I tried for a month to coordinate a time to fly out and buy her.

Oh, well. You got a nice one.

Congratulations!

JB,

Will have to check my archives but somewhere I have pictures of Jays 928 romping through the Ozarks. BTW he didn't get too far ahead of me, but it could have been the voice activated speed control kicking in.
