Default Charcoal Canister "Y" Connector

I took off my front passenger tire, removed the fender liner, and replaced the broken "Y" connector. Which one of these may have caused the vehicle to not start now? Man, these cars can get really touchy

Hmmmmmm I don't think a broken Y connector will do that. There has to be something else that caused the no start.

I am almost positive I installed the lug nuts exactly back on the correct studs, I may need to burn a Camaro as a sacrifice to the Porsche Gods. First thing I will try is the fuel pump relay. This is exciting....my first wild goose chase on a 928.

Did the engine fall out?....................................kdiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

Start with all the basics, healthy battery, good compression, fuel and spark.

Was it running previous to tyre removal?

Yes, it had set 4 days, running fine previously. I repaired the "Y" connector, then no start when I decided to drive and enjoy my accomplishment. Only thing different in those 4 days was lots of pine pollen all over the place. I will first try the fuel pump relay since I have one handy. If that doesn't work. I can get the kid next door to hold on to the coil wire while I crank it to check for fire.

Heh. BTDT.

After I changed my y connector the car "developed" a warm start/idle problem. It ended up being the LH, and I *know* I didn't touch that.

This is a good time to check the vacuum system, while fixing the broken connector shouldn't cause this problem, it has very slightly altered a portion of the vacuum system, and you never know. Good thing to make sure it's all good, you can click on the link in my sig and look for the "troubleshooting idle issues" for some guidance on checking the vacuum connections, the vacuum to the vapor recovery is off the ported feed on the throttle, so you might just want to check that portion for now.

Thanks fabric, I was sort of thinking the same thing. Funny how fixing something can screw up two other things. I have considered taking the connector loose if I have fuel and fire, and see if it fixes the problem, then I will know for sure its the vacuum system. Being a virgin at wrenching this car, I was having a quandary of where to start. I guess I have read way too many postings here, my brain is full.

At one point, I did exactly that - disconnected the y-connector to simulate the situation before I fixed it. It will either verify that it was the problem, or allow you to stop fixating on it as the problem.

I think you were on the right track when you said check for fuel and spark. I understand what you changed but 928 gods can be fickle so whenever an engine (on anything) doesn't start you have to start with the basics - fuel, compression, and ignition. When I first got my car it was a no start and after some trouble shooting of the infamous relays the problem has not reappeared. If you don't have fuel or spark the first thing I would check (bypass) are the relays.

Hope it turns out to be an easy one.
