I never thought of that little idear. yet another way to make sure valves are in time.. Im on it tomorrow night... If that also checks out. Im heading for fuel issues.

You earlier mentioned pulling an injector and seeing a 'mist' when it was triggered.
A clean injector with the correct fuel pressure ( and flow) behind it will spray a perfect cone pattern of droplets so fine that the cone appears to be made of a smooth sheet of glass.

I think tonight I am going to turn the engine by hand to each cylinders power stroke and make sure I hold pressure in the cylinder, then I am going to turn to the exhause stroke, apply air into the plug hole and see if i have air out the exhaust. this will tell me for sure if the cam is right. If all proves to be ok there, Im going to buy 4 new injectors, 2 new fuel regs, clean that fuel rail up really well and hope for the best. then if that doesn't work, shes paperwieghts, worm food, ebay parts,......

if your replacing injectors you should replace all of them , its like putting a bandaid on a cut that needs stiches..
BUT before you do the injector route did you ever spray some ether into the intake and see if the 5-8 cyls start to fire. If you dont want to use Ether then gas will work but be warned most spray bottles will have some kind of plastic that will be affected by gas and this could cause other problems.
The balancer is in the correct position if when looking at the crank you can read the numbers IE they are not facing the engine to be read correctly

This would answer the fuel question you still didnt say if you traced the wires but the spray test may delete this.......Warning dont spray a lot of ether into the intake it will have a tendency to wash the cylinders of their oil coating and possibly cause cylinder damage so only a little bit no more than 3 seconds of spray or less and do this with engine running on 4
If you decide to do this, I suggest using gasoline in a spray bottle. It is much safer to your engine than ether.

An aerosol can of WD-40 works quite well too - have started the odd motor that way ...

Fabio - I'm posting on top of your post so I can see the sig pic again ...

HTML Code:
If I pull all 4 spark plug wires off that side (one at a time or at the
same time) it runs the same as if they were on the plugs
Ok, you convinced me that you do have this problem

Do you pull the wires off when the motor is running? And if so do you get a big electric shock in your arm regardless of which bank the wire is on?

BTW, you mention that pulling the pug wires on the other side drops the rpm from 1100 to 800; at idle mine runs around 700/800 (with all 8 firing)...

HTML Code:
What would be the chances of having sheered off the cam key?
Zero, they are tough litlle bu**ers.

Maybe a stupid idea as i do not know the 84 but; can you swop the fuel rails, injectors et al from one bank to the other? If so, does the problem move to the other bank?

The top of the injectors have screen cup like filters. If this engine has sat for a long time these cups fill with a silt like substance. By all means disassemble and clean but you may be wasting a lot of money if the injectors have clogged filters. I had an 84 engine that sat for 10 years that had this problem.

Default Holy Crap Batman!

And that statement is no crap... for those of you who know what the top of an injector looks like, here is mine. Fuel would go through on its own, but when you applied pressure, the flow would not increase

Interesting...............did the same amount of plugging affect all 4 injectors on that bank equally?

Why one bank and not the other............any hints?

No Idea of why, It kinda scares me a bit. Yes all the injectors on this side are clogged this bad.
