I signed myself up for the first time. In the past every time I plan something like this life has a way of putting a crisis in the middle of it, so for a while I stopped trying to plan events like this.

It looks like a full week commitment for me including travel to NC. I just keep thinking that this is really worth doing and that nothing is going to stop me! I love the pics of the previous SITM's and want to see the NC landscape.

I am going to think positively, and for all of you in the same boat as me, consider making plans for this event- do something for yourself for a change! I am keeping mine a secret so nobody can sabotage it, intentionally or unintentionally!

I saw "wild hogs" and it was my inspiration for signing up! I almost forgot how much fun it was to take a road trip!

If anybody has an extra bed or plans on splitting a room, or is coming from the Northern Vermont or upstate New York area, let me know! A posse would be fun!

Hey Warren,

I'll be cutting across to PA and heading down, maybe meeting up with the MD/VA/DC group Friday morning if I can set it up. How 'bout I meet you on the way by?

I'll be there. Need to find a close RV park, as the family is continuing on vacation from there. Towing the shark the whole way

This is starting to look like an alternative for me too if i bring my Father In Law down for the whole post Memorial Day week. He'll drive the motorhome with our bikes in tow in the trailer and i'll cruise down in the 928.

I'll post back up if I find a place for RV's.

That was quick...

Start here

Grandfather Mountain Campground has full services for 200 a week.

John and Terra -Pistris,
Having been down in the area for several years, prior to owning Rosy, for a Vintage Motorcycle annual gathering, I happen to know of a fairly large RV park/campground in Pineola, a NICE short drive to Banner Elk, and I know of a short-cut, via the BRP, to Grandfather Mountain, from the park. The park has a brick bathroom/showers/laundromat, heated when it's cold or chilly, and there is a stream that goes right by the grounds.

Pay attention to this; NO GROUND LEVEL CAMPFIRES ALLOWED!!!!!!!! The guy can be a real A*****E about this, we've had several experiences with him about this, but the lady is kind and warmhearted. Gated grounds, fairly neatly kept. Kind of a windy dirt single lane in though....

As I am not an RV'er, I have no clue as to what amenities are there, but there are/were many 'permanently' installed RV's/motorhomes, with LOTS of left over spaces.....

Contact me off-line for more info...

I'll be there. Hopefully with Brian from last year, but he and the wife are buying their first house so he's still assessing the situation.

Anybody have a spare room or bed? Please PM me. I don't get to check Rennlist as much as I'd like to anymore.

I'd like to go. I'm almost finished restoring a '86.5 928. What, where, and when is it. I'm new here.

Just signed up and made my reservations. Also just bought my 86.5 as some of you know already. This gives me a deadline to have the mechanicals mostly done, but I'll probably still be the ugly duckling in the mountains (shark bait??) - but who cares? Really looking forward to this!
