Is the 928 an INVESTMENT?

My guess is the answer depends a lot on the current state of the car (and the owner's state of mind). Mine is currently in the shop, therefore, "money pit". When all is repaired and I'm driving it in the spring, I expect my answer to be different. God, I hope so.

I bought mine as a toy, not an "investment". It makes me smile and makes my kids smile.
When it no longer has that effect or I can no longer afford such a toy, it will belong to someone else. Luckily, I don't see that happening anytime in the near future. My 3 and 4 year old kids are already fighting over who gets "red car" when they are old enough to drive!

It is a far better investment than a new car that will immediately depreciate, and requires financing or cash I could otherwise invest. And yes, it may increase in value.

still new @ only 1.5yrs of ownership, although we already have 2 !!
Toy but not money drain, more or an investment - not primary vehicle so it's a toy, but I think it will hold it's value, so it's kind of an investment.
Only see it as a money drain if it was in poor shape at purchase, or items wanted but not needed are added... although that's part of the fun of having a toy.

Toy/hobby ? Probably, I voted that one.
Entertainment ? Definitely. Annual $/hr, seat time is comparable to:
Symphony season tickets
Major league ball games
Mountain sports
Almost certainly the shark is cheaper than hunting/fishing, especially
if you've got a camper/boat.
Investment ? Not money, but mental health/psyche/people, what bigmac said.
G'luck all.

More of a hobby to me. Not that that thought makes in pinch any less when something needs fixing or some high dollar maintenance cycle.
But I enjoy it every time I get behind the wheel or have someone ask me about it or tell me how much they like it or always wanted one.

Ah ....."Eventually it will be worth more than you have put into it." not as long as you have to KEEP PUTTING IN plus there is no assurance that 928 values are going to emulate what has happen with SOME collector cars...plus with the weakness in the real estate market, current stock market "corrections" we are just about due to see the muscle car market bubble burst ...We have just about run out of "greater fools" ...and collector cars have cycled up and down in the past just different cars...
