Default Fotos of Porsche Reman Water Pump

All indications on the box and on the rebuilt pump are that this was remanufactured in Germany. Replacements parts are stamped with 928 nos and markings as well as the box labeling and packing. Purchased from Sunset, a bit over $200. A new Porsche WP would have been $400. I don't know how Laso and stateside remans are built or marked but I understand they may cost a bit over $100.

Harvey,
Apart from the sticker it looks no different from the rebulit ones we buy here in DFW from Zims for less than $100.

Plastic impeller?
If the cross brace and pivot stud were included in the price, that would account for ~$60 of the increment.

I've seen some rebuilts that were spray painted all over. That inherently bothers me - like they are trying to hide something, especially when they paint the pulley. You got a nice new cad-plated pulley, the extra brace parts, and the entire body looks like fresh, raw unpainted metal. I just got a rebuilt steering rack from 928 Intl and it looks factory fresh - no funky paint and all the plated parts look new. That, plus it came with a supply of all the sealants. I like that.

Porsche offered either plastic or metal impeller, but given the bad press some other remans have had, I opted for the plastic. BTW, it did include complete new bolt/washer set and gasket. One year warranty. .

Plus, I got the $90 yellow sticker w/the deal!

It looks the same as the one I got from 928 Specialists for about $115 or so. Included the gasket, but not the bolts.

I buy virtually all of my parts from the big 2 plus an occasional up and comer..but a few parts I only buy Porsche or from somone on the list. Like WPs and Tbelts. If the big 2+ don't have the parts I need I go searching. A couple of years ago I bought a new in box MAF for $95 from a guy FL. Last year I bought the last new door-locking switch for the 968 left on the US through a dealer network lookup, after checking w/ the best. The Big Two are better to buy from and they stand behind their parts, deliver promptly and know 928s...and don't charge much or any more than anyone else....Some of the "discount" dealers sell some questionable aftermarket stuff such as ..belts...seals...etc. I avoid them. Now it's more important than ever to stick to the Big Two since Chinese clone parts are starting to show up (e.g., fuel pumps). Maybe they're OK but I'll let someone else figure that out first. I hate being stranded and don't want a blown engine/

Just giving you a bad time. But, I truly wonder what you got different for $200 than what I got at 928 Spec, or Roger got from Zim's. Other than the bolts.

T-belts....I didn't think Porsche actually had their name on one. With companies like Gates and Continental out there mfgrg the proper belt, I've no concern over quaility.
