LED's don't draw that kind of juice, it is the flash module that is the draw. Check with the alarm disconnected as mentioned. If you find that it IS the alarm system, just go through it systematically starting with the flash module. Alan probably knows where that is located too. You can just disconnect the power feed leads on this unit and you won't have any led's period. My moneys on this baby based on all you say.

As for the Air Bag, they probably disconnected the battery and had the key to the #2 position, then hooked it back up...this does it sometimes..OR, they had the steering wheel Air Bag off (disconnected) and hooked the battery back up. They may have been trying to get to the lock cylinder switch. Yea, I know it's not on the column, but if someone doesn't know these cars, they start to take apart all kinds of stuff to figure it out and make mistakes. The code SHOULD just clear with a "hammer" or equivilant.

Okay, you can't clear the airbag warning without the Bosch Hammer or equivalent. It was set to fault because someone at the shop disconnected your battery, then reconnected it(BTDT). This also confirmed by your stereo not working right again.

What has happened is that you took your car to someone that doesn't know **** about electricity and/or the 928. You should'nt have left the facility without getting your airbag fault cleared.

You battery resting current isn't over 10 amps. There were circuits on that should have been off when the test was done, or the results were misinterpreted. For less than $50 in tools(that you will need in the future anyway) you could have diagnosed this yourself, instead, you're in a graveyard spiral of paying for crappy service and making your car worse everytime someone touches it.

If you don't want to work on it that's fine. At least take it to the shop with a clear set of goals to accomplish.

1. Reset your airbag fault using the Hammer. Note the fault code for future ref.

2. Remove that black attachment gizmo from the car, and excise all the wiring associated with it at the source(clean slate).

3. Use the procedure, get the accurate resting current draw.

4. Publish your findings back here.

Hi,
I'm going into current draw, all has been said I think.
Just about the airbag system: The 928 has a OBD similar system that it shares with the other Porsche models (964 ...) The system detects a power failure while it is operational (switched on). Basically dropping of the switched 12v on the CE will trigger the system to log downtime. This downtime is not a catastrophic problem, but it does release a alarm warning on the dash. You need to reset the downtime log. Unplugging the airbag with battery on? That is like testing your airbag and see if it activates and unfolds..... RTFM !!!

Ok, diagnose and reset tools? The Bosch Hammer and later Bosch tools like the PST2.
There's one more tool but I'm not allowed to mention that here...
