That's it, we've got a quorum. This thread will officially dictate how to fix this problem.

Well, you know, as soon as somebody figures it out .

Replace it with a longer bolt.

Easy.

OK,

Angel, Casey, let's put our heads together and see if there's anything in common here beside the obvious symptom.

Here are the things I've noticed about mine:

  1. I used to have a problem with my headlight relay, so when I was testing the motor, I may have put the arm back on in the wrong place (always start with the last thing you allegedly fixed)
  2. My passenger headlight sits lower in the opening than the DS headlight
  3. Both of my headlights seem to aim higher than they should
  4. When my headlights come up, they seem to go past the "All the way up" part and then stop (see #1 above)

From this I think I may have two different problems, but I'm not sure. I think one problem is that I may have put the headlight arm back on the motor one or two teeth off, so it goes past "UP" and then stops. I'm sure this is why they aim high too. I don't think this is also why the passenger headlight sits lower than the DS, but who knows.

OK, either of you have any of these other symptoms, or is it just that one hangs lower than the other?

One of my lights was sitting low at the trailing edge as well. It turned out that a small plastic ball end had poped out of its socket at the front of the light assembly. I was able to push the ball end back in its socket with my fingers by pushing on the front face of the light.

My lights are sprung a little - pushing back on them when erect, they pivot at the bottom on something. Are yours loose at all, or if the springing action has been removed on them, is one frozen at a different position than the other?

My PS grommet (or whatever that rubber thing is called) was toast, I was able to adjust it up and cushion it until I get a new one. Now they both line up in both positions and are aimed correctly as well.

BTW- A good WYAIT is to check that 'Y' fitting for the fuel line that runs behind the passenger (US) fender liner. Sometimes it cracks and you will smell fuel from there.

Thanks Randy.

How's about YOU take pics when you do yours and then post a Headlight Adjustment thread.

Just lower the one that sits high if the adjustment on the other one is tapped out.
