Now you've heard of two. Brand new from Porsche, lasted 13 months.

Actually Nicole no. you'd do as others have done and set a warranty at 1 year, and give a 5-dollar discount on new replacement units. That nets you a steady income - each year you have a return customer and a new sale.

It's copper, but visually identical to the original (except for the decals which were thrown away with the old one!) It runs a little cooler than the original and has given me no trouble whatsoever in 7 years. Cheap too. You might have such a place near you. There are heaps of them here. Colin. 89GT

I'll second that. I've had more than one radiator "made from scratch" and never had a failure. And copper adds value, imo, even if it's not original. Radiators aren't rocket science and there are a lot of guys who do good work.

I have bought a brand new Behr radiator from the local rad shop for $395.00 a couple of month ago. These things should be replaced after so many years even if they don't leak. My car runs 30% cooler with the new rad.

It has to be electrically grounded so you don't get electrolysis. Other than that, nothing special.

The two failure modes are corrosion due to electrolysis and bent chassis causing a highly stressed fitment/inproper mounting.

Always connect the provided ground strap!

Standard Behr warranty is one year , two years if purchased from Porsche includes labor IF installed by the Porsche dealer.
This is true probably to the sense that the Porsche labor more then makes up for any cost the dealership may incure later especially if the can do a bounce back to the manufacture to pay for the re-install.

The radiator in Bob Bighams Shark was installed back in 2001 and was a unit direct from John Davis...I don't believe its ever leaked yet.

Can someone provide a picture of the ground strap and/or its location? I want to make I got the strap in place and I am sure others with Devek/Aluminum radiators wants to do the same thing.

The Porsche dealer is REQUIRED to buy their parts from Porsche part of being an agency. Porsche cars PAYS the dealer for replacing parts under warranty. Normal labor is about 2 hours per book time.

One way to do it -- the brown wire that runs under the passenger side air inlet grounds the radiator on my car. Basically anything that will be a better ground path than the coolant should do it. You can run a wire behind the radiator, underneath, etc.
