I just disassembled the rears yesterday w/o a spring compressor. [NB: This only applies to Bilstein/EIbach. Always use a spring compressor.] I built the fronts a long time ago. They are sitting on the garage floor awaiting disassembly. I'm not sure if I used a compressor, but I'll go out and check the fronts tonight. However, I do remember that the lower spring plate for the front Bilstein/Eibachs is not stock. I think the new plate lowers the spring, but I'm not sure. Are you using that?

I installed bil/eibach on my 83 Euro and it is very stiff at first, I guess it was because my old ones were so worn. It has been a while since the swap and they dont feel as stiff as they did at first and the cornering is awesome.

Enjoy

I remember there only being a few posts on here before about this package. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. Joe
Joe:

The fronts require a compressor. You need an inch of compression. I just diassembled mine a minute ago. The rears didn't need one, as I mentioned before. Again, this just apllies to the Bilsteins/Eibach combination.

Joe.........as Bill mentions you require a good set of spring compressors for this job; in fact the front spring is so strong most folks use 3 compressors to be safe.

Be very careful doing this work especially if you've never done it before..........good time to call up an experienced List buddy.

That explains it then. I have only assembled the fronts so far and used all of the original harware. I do have the newer style spring perches for the rear, although it will be a while before I get around to putting that together. Thanks. Joe
