Default Throttle Cable Ball/Socket

Anyone know where to fine the Ball/Socket style ends that will work on our Throttle Cables??

Are there universal types out there?

Can't answer this directly, since I've never considered myself a 'universal type'. I've always been a 'ball' looking for a 'socket'.

Watcha trying to do?

Darien - might check a marine supply shop; found replacements for the broken one on my hatch. They <typically> have a good selection of ball posts, so I'd imagine the sockets would be available as well... in Stainless too!! Good luck!!

Great question Darien I bet it's out there, I just opted for the easy but $$ way out in my cars ... bought the whole shebang new.

Darien,

If yours is worn and pops off, try spinning the little clippy thing (official Porsche technical term, hereinafter referred to as the LCT) inside the socket. Mine was giving me a problem when someone put it back on wrong after my, ahem, 'his' first TB/WP job. When I got it corrected I found a flat spot on the ball end that allowed it to pop off at the most inopertune times.

If you spin the LCT in the socket it will put some new metal where the seam was and should stay on better.

Darien and Wayne,
Yes - replacements are available from the Porsche dealer. You cut the cable at the end of the current ball attachment and the new one clamps to the cable and as I recall - is a bit longer. Bought one about 5 years ago, and don't recall the price.

An autoparts store near me sold a variety pack of the *****. Mark A ended up hooking me up with the proper fittings.

Another place to try is your local NAPA or CarQuest. I have taken ball and socket fittings from other cars' throttles to them and they scoured their parts and were able to come up with good matches.
