Default Risky Business 928

I don't know if anyone is still looking for it, or if it has been found, but I SAW it today!!! The story behind it is at the link below:

http://www.rb928.com/

I was at the Forney Museum in Denver today and saw a car getting it's picture taken in the parking lot that looked exactly like the one that I sold last year, except it did not have any oxidation like mine. I got to talking to the owner and he told me that it is the remaining 5 speed car and that the remaining automatic from the movie had been shipped to Europe many years ago. The owner said that he contacted the producer of the movie and was given the VIN numbers of the two ramaining cars and was able to track them down and aquired this one. He is now making a documentary about the car for submission to the Sundance Film Festival in 2008.

The story seemed belivable, but the web page that he gave me doens't give any details.

For those of you in Colorado, the car will be on display at the Forney, but I do not know how long.

Bran

aside from 928 owners who maybe care, why the hell would anyone want to watch a movie about an old car used in a movie. The car is only in a couple minutes of the movie, and its really only famous for going into a lake?

Why are those guys making a movie about THIS car???????

Maybe they can also do a documentary about "KIT" the Night Rider car too. You know that would rock- stick shift or not.

have you seen many "indy" documentaries? There are not many people interested in most topics they are made about. The content is only half the movie.

Actually, you are quite mistaken.

The car played a key role in the movie plot, and was more than just a fancy sports car. Much of the story line involved the car, much like the Ferrari in Ferris Bueller's Day Off did.

On another note.........

had the tube on while doing something around the house - one of those 'Detective Stories' or whatever (true cases) that they show on the cable news channels during the day (apparently). Anyway, this was about a woman who had her rival murdered. After revealing her guilty conviction, the announcer mentioned a series of posessions to indicate she had plenty of money and that relative wealth didn't save her from being found guilty. When he said, "......the PORSCHE......" I glanced at the screen to a picture of her 928! It was only on screen for about half a second, but definitely a white S4. She was convicted in '94, I think, but didn't hear where she had lived. Perhaps someone on the forum has this car?

Ahhh, so much for my joining Rennlist and being the 'silent observer' as I had initially envisioned, I see.. (Thanks, Ed!) Many a day I stumble upon a thread, albeit a spent one, with RSKY BIZ referenced. I respond to some, (still trying for that 'low profile image)...laugh at most, and am grateful for the friend who suggested I join the list. Car's name was suggested by my friend who hooked me up with her -- it obviously 'stuck!'

Rennlist has 'far reaching effects'... much more than in the initial sales pitch -- at least for this 'renner' -- and I'll leave it at that... dazed, yet smiling...

Yes, I adopted RSKY BIZ ... she's mine, I luv her lots... anxiously awaiting the end of her 'affair' with Rog . . .that 'unconditional love thing' -- with my 928....

now... what was the question???

re: movie... have to share this -- driving home from tint shop -- RSKY BIZ comes upon a stainless Delorean....

First the nod, then the dance -- we drove tandem down a straight-away... hoping there were some movie buffs behind us -- RSKY BIZ meets BACK TO THE FUTURE!

What I remember as unique in the movie is that even with Tom Cruise driving the 928 leaves the other car quickly behind. It makes me crazy when a motorcycle can't lose a pickup truck in a movie.

OTOH the notion that the dealer could "fix" a car after a dip in the lake was bit funny.

It's not as far fetched as you think. If the car was dried out quickely and all fuids were change too, then I don't see how this would not work. Early 928 were CIS so the injection is mechanical and less prone to electrical problems. There are tons of cars sold on ebay that had flood damage.

For good reason, its not clean water that you can just dry out. Submerge a car and its hard to say where water is going to get into and maybe not want to get out of. Some things you might get away with in a really dry area like Arizona, but things that have been nasty wet once often "wake" up the nasty every time its damp again. Good candidate for a track car is all I can think of with a flood or fire damage vehicle.

No, the funny thing about this was they got it done so quick, and on time! They may give dealers a "good rep".

Actually a local dealer, Sewell, does an incredible job on customer service. In fact, Mr. Sewell wrot a book on the subject.

IIRC the RB 928 was an 81, so no CIS there....

I would love to see that documentary. After all these years, its found. I wonder if those guys making it have any other sharks? I should email them and direct them here....
