Default Turn signal/wiper switch removal

My turn signal switch will not stay in the on position when turning right so I need to remove it to fix it. Has anyone removed theirs and can give me a dis-assembly proceedure please.Do I need to remove the steering wheel or will the switch assembly just come straight off by itself?

pull steering wheel
lift instrument pod upward to clear
loosen the clamp that is part of the stalk unit and grips the shaft
unplug the rear-mounted switch sockets
pull

Disassembly:
Drill out the rivets
catch all the little parts carefully

Also to lift pod remove the bolts holding it down (two) and be careful not to break the connectors.

Just don't let that happen again. I heard my English wife say "Trash" the other day instead of "Bin" - I asked "What, you think you can just lose the English wording and still be married to me?"

LOL Brandan, when I want to p**s my wife off, I use only English expressions and she usually doesn't have a clue ( in English "can't sus out") what I mean.
I'm sure your wife knows that English expression, try it on her sometime

Dayum
you mean I gotta pull the steering wheel ? bet I haven't got anything big enough to loosen the boss . rummages in toolbox.
I know what is going to happen lol I'll get the bits off then think `well now I'm here I might as well just strip and refurbish the pod' then it will be the complete dash in bits all over the house. groan....

I might just `distress' it a bit instead. Thats English for hit it with a big hammer.

Yup, wheel has to come off because the switch is clamped around the steering shaft. Socket is 27mm, but a 1 1/16" will work fine (IIRC).

BTDT, still have the socket. But I don't know if 17/16 Whitworth works.
