Coolant Expansion Tank Cracked.... DOH!
Oh great. something else to add to my things to fix list.... apparently there's a small hairline fraction that goes around the top of the coolant expansion tank just below where the radiator cap screws in.
Anyone have a good used coolant reservoir before I go and invest into my cooling system?

Andy--
I f you are going to go through the effort to replace the tank, and EFFORT is more like it, put a new one in. There's no reason to belive that any used one you might find here would be in better shape than the one in the car now.
Your yellow washer bottle will be jealous of the new bright coolant reservoir.
Remember to go ahead and replace ALL those small-diameter coolant hoses WYAIT. There are a couple that are a pain to get to, might be a bit easier with the reservoir out. Ask Jim about the last bolt, the one that you won't be able to put back in.

What no JBweld?
Don't think twice, put in a new one, its not like cars used to have just a overflow tank, its pressurized with the rest of the cooling system. $115 and shipping or something like that, and an easy 2 or 3 hours providing you have a 5 year old handy with long arms thats good with a wrench.

yea I'll just throw a new one in.... I just thought I'd put this up for a thought. I also have a bad coolant level sender too that keeps triggering the idiot light in the dash

Dealer left it off on mine during a service, but both are on now. PO had some hose replaced and system flushed but didn't replace the tank, kind of has me wondering how many failed tanks only have one bolt holding them on?

the screws can be easily replaced if you have the right tools try a 1/4 in swivel on a long extension I think the bolt head is 8mm you will find that it will be easier to connect the hose that is under tank before you install the tank, then make the hose to metal line connection after the tank is installed removal is the reverse of installation

Hose under the tank?.......hmmmmmmmmm.....that may explain the bright green coolant under the car since i replaced the sending unit in the tank.......to get the the sending unit in i removed the bolts holding the tank and pulled it out from under the fender just enough to get the new sender in....wonder if i partially pulled the bottom hose off?

well you may have nicked your bottom hose on the tank if so then it might be a good idea to get a new hose and then remove the tank when you have the hose remove the hose from the metal line that runs along the fenderwell then remove the sender wires and screws and then the tank note the position of the hose and try to install the tank hose clamp so it can raeched from under the car otherwise you wont ever be able to snug it up after it has a few cycles on it
