My son's short playlist includes 3x DK, Holiday in Cambodia, Plastic jesus, and something about beating up drunks. Whole family is fond of the Poxy Boggarts, Johnny Cash, Black Sabbath. Currently hunting online for Rik L Rik Nihil album. Fair amount of weird Al too.

here you go. These are the spacers form Best Buy. My 6.5's were too deep to cut the door for a flush mount, they would have hit the window. I cut the door slightly to allow the magnet to stick through and to allow the door chamber to help with the bass response. Also it's hard to see but I have a strip of foam weather stripping between the door panel and the spacer to help seal things as the panel is not perfectly flat right there. I have the same arrangement in the rear. I have another pair going into the rear deck sides, however I'm waiting on a baffle to come in first.

 

Why didn't you just recover the upper section of the door panel, while you were cutting holes for the speakers? It looks strange with those holes back there...

 

Terra, IMO that speaker is wayyy too big for a door speaker and doesn't look that great.

 

Agreed, but one project at a time... I plan on recovering the panel in leather and will attempt to make a mold for the speaker first to blend it in. For now it's very functional and looks much better in person. The sound is awesome. For now, I'll take sonic enjoyment over a little tackyness.

 

Yeah, glassing it in, and then re-covering it, would look slick...
