A question for those that use the original Workshop Manual. The electrical diagrams show four sources of 12 V at the top of every page. Looking at the top of each wiring diagram, the four sources of current are: 30, 15, X & 31. I know one is 12V all the time and one is 12V when the key is turned on. What are the other two? I cannot see how to trace these four wires back to their orign.
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.

Ern... 31 is a ground.
30 = hot always
15 = Run and Cranking (Ignition switch position 2 & 3)
50 = Cranking only ( " " " 3)
X = Accesories ( " " " 1 & 2)
G'luck.
p.s. Alan, you're correct, of course. I forgot the'2', '3', in my haste - we're
about to go out the door.

Macreel - to clarify..
X = Accessories - on in ignition switch positions 1 & 2 only
15 = Run (on in positions 2 & 3)
Where Ignition switch positions:
0 = Off
1 = Accessories Only
2 = Run
3 = Starter
X = Accessories - on in ignition switch positions 1 & 2 only
15 = Run (on in positions 2 & 3)

0 = Off
1 = Accessories Only
2 = Run
3 = Starter

Thanks for the information. I can't tell you how many times I started to dig that information out of my manual and just gave up on it. It has never been a problem as I do my trouble shooting with the switch on and know that the top of the sheets is where the !2 volts is coming from. Someday I know I will need the information. Right now I am troubling shooting my interval wipers. If the problem is the relay, then part of the relay is working as the wipers do not stop in the middle of the windshield when the wipers are stopped by the wiper lever. With the cover off the relay, I can depress the relay contact and the wiper goes for one stroke so the power and ground is OK. I like to determine just exactly what the problem is before I strat throwing parts at the car. Thanks again.

My car is a 1979 that I have had since almost new. I have done all my own work on the car which hasn't been much except electrical problems which are usually easy and cheap to fix. I did put in a new clutch and new fuel injectors a while back. The car has about 100K miles and runs perfect. I have looked at the wiring diagram and see that the relay does several functions. One function is to return the wiper to the bottom when the wipers are turned off when running in the continuous mode. All three speeds work in the continuous mode. The wipers do return to the bottom when the relay is in place. It looks like the interval action should work if getting the right signal ftom the variable resistor under the dash. It looks like a voltage is applied across the variable resistor and a moveable contact picking off a varying votage and sending it to the timing circuit in the relay. I have only had a quick look and will tack on a couple of wires onto the relay and monitor the input from the variable resistor when I get a chance. I really enjoy reading the posts on this form and see there are some really knowledgeable people posting. I appreciate your interest and help.
