Default spoiler s4 factory

I just bought the GTS wing from Gary, so my near perfect factoryS4 wing is up for grabs. Make an offer(J/K Randy!) I will need 275.00 or decent offer. This will make your pre-87 car look much more modern.

Default I might be interested

Excuse my questions, is the S4 wing much differnt that the GTS wing? Will your S4 wing bolt onto an 85S with the factory rubber lip spoiler. I guess i need to drill into the hatch for wing mounting then?

thanks in advance

Rod

Slightly different Rod. I never knew till someone pointed it out. Yes, just drill 2 holes each side and mount. Looks good together with the lip spoiler. My 83 euro had this setup and it looked nice.

Actually, we recently learned something real interesting: Some of the 86 models already have the modification of the inner frame of the hatch for the S4 models - but not the holes, of course. What this means is that on the inside of the hatch there is more room for the nuts on these 86 models than on the earlier cars.

I don't know why this is or when exactly it started - and I don't know, if those are the original hatch, or if all replacements come that way. Just thought some of you might find this interesting.

Kevin: You should probably state whether this is the foldable or the fixed version of the spoiler. Early 87 models had the foldable wing. Good luck in finding a loving home for it!

The GTS wing is all-metal, right? Aluminium presumably. If so I'm looking for one. Mind telling what it cost you?

Very interesting! I went out see if the parts car's (86.5) hatch has the indents and it does or at least I think it does. Is the indent about 8" from the bottom and about 2" long? If it is, then vin# 1905 has this hatch. I'm guessing that maybe all 86.5s have this.

Its plastic like earlier wing but has smooth surface where as earlier models have textured.

Factory obviously knew some time before they would change wing design. Maybe they needed to update hatch sheetmetal pressing mould little earlier than S4 came out and decided to take advantage of this.
