Does anyone have any info on when the toothed belt, that spins both ditributors, should be changed. I imagine when the timming belt gets done would be a good time. My service manual shows this belt,but says nothing about replacing it.

THat's the same as the Timing belt that I'm sure you've read about. Not to bad to do yourself, but expensive to pay someone to do it for you. Get the belt, rollers and water pump from one of the big 2 (they usually sell it as a package) and jump in.

If you've no history of it being replaced, replace it now, when I fitted a new one to my S2, I found the old one had streched a fair bit and was in very poor condition and ready to break, it was proberly the original which if it was, had 122k on it and was 15yrs old.
