Default Pics of taillight lens and interior LED update

Here are some pics of some clean and easy projects. I painted the rear lenses red to go with my lettering. I like it, what do you think? I wish all of this car could be disassembled as easy as the tail lights can be removed. Porsche must've outsourced the engineering of this item.

And also some pics showing the hue of the white LED interior lights. They're plenty bright as evidenced by the fact that these shots were taken in my garage during daylight hours.

I like the back..looks sharp. I need to do the LED upgrade. Im sure i can search but the pod bulbs can be done..correct? I dont want a mismatch of lighting throughout the car.
Can they also be dimmed when an LED is used?

Did you get the High Power LED Festoon for your overhead map light?

Tony: Nicole offers a Jager kit that upgrades instruments. The dash cluster, the HVAC and the clock are actually all 3 different kits, available in several colors. That's next, the main thing I was trying to do here was get the power hog incandescents out, I don't need any more dead batteries at 5:00am when I'm headed to the airport, if you know what I mean.

Here are more pics of her gorgeous butt.

Yes, it has two large LED "clusters", or whatever you want to call it. It was the same length as the stock bulbs, at 42mm. The door, back overhead, hatch and footwell are all 9 festoon 44mm bulbs, which require a little bending of the socket, but no big deal at all. You can also get 6 festoon bulbs at 42mm length, but those are 1/3 dimmer. Or, 2/3 the brightness. Or, you can consider the 9 festoon bulbs are 50% brighter.

I have the Jager LED kit for the instrument cluster and the lights do not respond to dimmer adjustments. Perhaps there is a variety that does dim, but mine do not.

Looks great! Some questions on the rear lights...

What type of paint did you use on the lights? Spray or brush?
How did you match the color or is it just "red"?
Did you need to use yellow bulbs, or were they already there?
And one more question. what do they look like illuminated?

thanks for posting the pics!

It's the Testors 1605 spray enamel as has been published before, I just copied. The fixtures come off very easy, one nut behind the tool cover at the rear of the car, and they swing out. I taped off the clear for the backup lights, and also the existing red, and sprayed on two coats of the Testors paint. I didn't sand as some have done, I just used alcohol and thoroughly cleaned as others have done with success. I guess in theory, I could strip the paint off if I ever wanted to go back to stock. They look fine illuminated, as if they came that way.

The bulbs and everything all stay the same. As has been noted by others, it is probably the cheapest "upgrade" you can do to these cars. I think I covered all of the questions, if not, let me know.

Thanks guys!

Oh, the LED's came from superbrightleds.com. They are the 44mm, 9 festoon white bulbs under the automotive section. The HD bulb for the maplight was sourced from this guy on Ebay:

Question

Nice upgrades, Ed! How does the brightness of the 42mm in the overhead map light compare to the stock bulb?

Hmmm, that's a tough call since the quality of the light is so different. But, IMO, it's as bright, if not brighter. Certainly efficient for any reading you'd need to do.
