Default Paint Chips GONE

There is a local place called Car Specialties they do paint chip repair and allot of other thing's. Owner is a car nut and owns a Vette. They did my 951 and I droped of my S4 today and it looks like it just rolled out of the show room all paint chips are gone. Here is there web site, I understand it is only for local guys and it is in NW Ohio but I am sure if you set up an appointment that they could have it done in a few hours depending on how bad the car was and there schedule. Cost was a mere $105.00 I will post pictures.

Please don't take this as a negative comment, its just something I have noticed with other touchup jobs, and I hope you get different results and can report that to us in a few months.

Making it look perfect doesn't seem to be the hard part, having it last more than a few car washes or rain cycles is the hard part. Someone did a write up about some kind of goop to use prepaint, so maybe its more sorted out now.

touching up rock chips is really pretty easy. Needless to say allot of people dont even bother. Basically fill every nick you can find, sand with 2000 grit paper, buff, polish wax. Its especially easy if your going to be doing all the buffing and polishing anyway. No real secret to it. Again, most people just respray entire panels now days.

I had this done on my 951 when I 1st bought it, and 4 years later it was still perfect and you could not tell where the chips were. They use an air brush and the same paint when new. I am not real sure of the process but I can tell you that when it is done it is as perfect as it can be short of having the whole car painted. Owner of my 951 now can not believe how nice the paint on the car is. I may have him chim in and give his opinion. I am not selling anything nor am I in any way part of this I am just passing on a company I found that does fantistic work. My biggest point for them is the cost. They are doing my whole car for $105.00 and when they did my 951 they had it for a few days maken it perfect. On some of the deep chips on my 951 they masked off the area and then built up the deep chip with paint and then wet sanded it smooth and then buffed out all the areas washed the car and gave me the keys. All for $105.00

Would you happen to have before and after pictures? I would like to see if this applies to the larger rock chips here and there or the many little chips all over the front end.

Thanks!

No I do not have any before and after pictures but on ther web site they have some of there work posted and some before and after shots. Of course this is only for local people but I would have driven 2 hours for this if I had needed to. Most cases could be a day or less turn around for some driving a little far or drop the car off on the weekend and pick it after work will work also.

Here is a shot of the car at Car Specialties almost finished. I know it does not show much for what this post is about. Let me find out if I can get some shots from a before and after.

Cliff what will you do about the chips in the interior, like the Pringles, Lays and Doritos and maybe a few Fritos?? Don't get me started on the pop-tarts

I am the new owner of Cliffs 944. Cliff told me the car had been to Car Specialties to remove all the chips on the car. I can only detect the deep ones on the front bumper when my face is smushed against it and the lighting is perfect. I still don't believe the entire car was touched up.

I have added some pictures. They speak for themselves.

Cliff, thansk again

Thanks for posting Cliff! Wish there was a place like that here in MA.

Any idea if they're able to accurately match metallic paints?

Maybe we need a thread of preferred detail shops around the country? Every area must have a few that know how to do it to please an owner not just a used car dealer.
