Ferry Porsche's custom, one-off, 942 stretch 928.
I thought the 928 group might want to see a few pictures we took of Ferry Porsche's 942,--that's the slightly stretchen 928 in his custom dark green color, with oversized doors. The body is also longer than a usual 928 so that the back seats are actually comfortable.
Note the unusual, fixed projector headlights.
For the real Zuffenhausen experts, you'll notice that this was shot before the massive body shop was built. It now stands in the background of the first few pictures.
(Sorry about the quality. I scanned these from small prints until I can put my hands on my negatives.)(Date: December 1985). Me, with an Army buddy.

incredible! I love seeing vintage shots of these amazing cars; especially specialty models such as this! Beautiful! I wish to own projectors like that in my 928...

Thanks! I've never seen a good pic of the lights themselves.

They moved them 2-3 inches up the fender. It makes the front of the car look way too long. As it was, with the rear seats and the front over hang, at least a foot could have been removed from the total car.

You know, I didn't want to be the guy who wrote that, but you do remember that Tony Lapine was at AMC before he came to Porsche...

BMW had them on the 7-series in '86.

S4 8" rims, too, in the Ferry pic.
But in last pic of Dan's, there's 7-inchers on the back...
