Default Anyone here used Norton's Liquid ice system? How About 3M's perfect-it 3000?

I am looking for new Polish and buffing compound and was considering the 3M perfect-it 3000 series compounds, and also the Norton Liquid Ice system.

I probably need all new pads as well which the Norton system comes with for $66.00. But they use just a single compound to do the job of buffing, polishing and final glaze. The 3M system uses 3 compounds ($79.00) but also requires 3 different Pads as well.

Anyone sed the Norton system, i would be curious to hear feedback on it. I am not entirely sure in the idea that the pads do the different cutting, but also conversely see the benefit of not having compound contamination, which you will always have unless its completely removed after EVERY step.

Comments???

All I know is if you use a non-cutting pad with some of the new compounds, you get no results. Whatever you use, use the entire system as designed.

Ryan, believe me, use the 3m system and buy one bottle of their new Ultrafina to finish. By far the best I have used.

I've been advised that Perfect-It is the stuff to use on our hard-as-rocks paint. I have used 3M's Finesse-It II and it is too fine to do much. You might try that as a follow-up, although perhaps the Ultrafina Kevin mentioned is even better for a final buff.

Thanks Kevin,

I like 3m stuff, the whole single compound thing seems like a bit of a gimick to me. (speaking of norton)

I will check out 3M's website for reccomended Pads to use with the compounds and see what it all ends up costing. Ive never been able to find 3M pads in paint stores that i went to, they just carried Meguirs pads.

Kevin,

Do you have a product number for this ultrafine?

I see their system consists of the rubbing compound, the swirl mark remover and the final glaze, but i see no "ultrafine" on their site.

Kevin,

I just bought the 3 bottles of the Perfect-it system from a seller on Ebay, comes with a Pad and a cloth for $69. Pretty good deal, they have another one on Ebay, check it fast its $69 with a $79 BIN. Note, I just noticed it does not include the previous final glaze but instead comes with the "ultrafine" as the last step.
