Default Warning(?)/Observation about Hüco Ignition Units

They don't play together, well!

(I broke my factory ignition amps) by trying to remove them. I was happy to find the Hücos (made in Germany), at a cheaper price. After installing them, however, my idle would sporatically drop, and stumble when putting into gear.

I thought it might be the reference sensor, and ordered one, but being impatient, I bought some Bosch (made in USA) units, today.

Here's what I observed: (2) Hücos = stumble, (1) of either Hüco + (1) Bosch = purring, (2) Bosch = purrring.

I reckon there must be a ciruitry thing that makes two Hücos interfere with each other.

Hüco (Hueco)# 13 8012

BTW, look around - you should be able to get Bosch units for ~$60/ea.

Trivia: the Hücos have an aluminum base, the Bosch, steel.

Is it possible one of them has a factory defect?

I suppose, but since both Huco units worked when combined with a Bosch, I doubt it.

Yep - shielding doesn't grow on trees. Some costs savings cost too much.

Interesting... I wonder if they went with aluminum because it's a better heat conductor(making up for less efficient parts maybe) or if they went with aluminum just because it's cheaper.

Ahh ok, I didn't get that from you post. Hey, at least you've tried!

It appears the problem was non-resistor Bosch plugs - W7DC, versus the factory WR7DC. The Hucos can't handle the RF.

(I put in some colder plugs with resistors.) WR6DC+, to go along with more cam and ignition advance. I reinstalled the Hucos, and the stumble did not return.

I've got proper spares, now, I guess.
