Default Underside pictures of X-pipes installed with rest of exhaust system

Anyone have pictures of the following X-pipes installed w/ or w/out cats on their cars? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I think Carl has some on his site, and he sells the Motorsport kit, so you'd be killing 2 birds w/one stone.

I only saw the one in his X-pipe section. That's it.

FYI, I've had my ott-inspired, motorsport fabricated crossover on the car for a couple days and I like it quite a bit. Tony had commented about changing his 02 sensor at the same time (which I did, too) and that it seemed to help with his lumpy idle. I agree that the car seems to idle more smoothly, and am not sure whether it's the new 02 sensor, or the positive scavenging effects at idle, or a combination of both, but it's good.

Furthermore, I can attest that the car seems "lighter" now, meaning that it seems to take less throttle application off the line to have the car feel like it's accelerating faster than it did previously--which I take to be my seat-of-the-pants assessment that torque really has improved noticably, particularly at the lower end. On the other hand, since the car's so much quieter now, it may be that I'm deeper into the throttle than before, but it's not as noticable because the exhaust note has changed so much. Before, you could hear/feel the rumble change A LOT as the throttle opened.

I need to have the car dyno'd, but overall I'm very impressed.

One note: When I bought the car it had factory cats, GT resonators, and an RMB. I added S4 resonators and an S4 muffler and the car is now eerily quiet.

So a word of caution for those who like the more aggressive sound: Having S4 resonators and the S4 muffler will probably be overkill.

I saw that link Brian. Same one I talked about above. I too am opting for an x-pipe later. I need to check clearances down there since I want to put a Y-collector after the cats to make it a single 3.5" exhaust. From what I have seen so far, I have 2 choices:

1) If there isn't enough space for the Y- collector right after the cats, bend 2 small 2.5" pipes towards the driver side and install Y-collector right after the bend.

2) If there is sufficient space, install Y-collector immediately after cats and direct 3.5" piping on driver side to back of car.

I think Motorsport is planning on a big single exhaust with a Y, which would be designed to fit. I don't know if it's a 3.5 or not; that sounds awfully big, especially if you've just got a stock engine. Louis Ott has run exhaust configurations where he *lost* power, resulting from TOO MUCH scavenging.

I saw his dynos. It was actually torque not HP lost with a single 3.5" exhaust.

Heads Up, I just finished my install of the Motorsports X pipe and no cats with my RMB. Go for the new 02 sensor only becuase I broke my old one getting it out. I have a 87 S4 so I have the big resonators. I love the sound, But it is not for everybody if you do allot of highway driving. The drone after a while could get old. With my set up,Xpipe no cats RMB and I bought the Autoathorty Chip from a guy selling them here on the Renn List cars feels very fast. If we go with what the performance gains from the dyno sheets of the products they are selling my HP would now be 366.

I got a 2 thumbs up from a kid at the next light today after I stomped on it. When stomped on in 2nd sound is VERY NICE.

Oh while I see a post about O2 sensors, would a 3-wire Bosch Universal O2 sensor work with the 928 if I splice it into the factory connector????

It just did on mine. I bought it from 928 int'l. Didn't seem worth it to pay $90 ($60 vs. $150) more for a grommet and connector.

Motorsport x-pipe/ceramic coated. Same unit Carl sells.
The D.Lomas x makes the most power at the top end too (28 hp/no cats)
I agree with Roger it is the best bang for the buck for any 928.
Louie Ott saw another 15 HP on top of the x by increasing exhaust pipe size to 2.5 all the way back.

The junction angle of the X looks different for each of those, didn't the reference on Ott's site have some specific angle that was best? Thinking it was about 20 degrees.

I am now selling the Motosport Inc X pipe systems and should have some nice installation pictures in a few days. I have the Dave Lomas X system on my GTS and 87S4. Best bang for the buck out there IMOO.
