I sent my injectors to Witchhunter Performance for rebuilding & flow testing to within 1% of eachother. Very good ,prompt service & reasonable price.

This is what caused me to dig in , in the first place- Disintegrated oil breather hose spewing oil into the "VEE". All buttoned back up with all new hoses, gaskets, vacuum lines etc., no more burnt -oil smell.

The 24lb Ford injectors listed on the Summit Racing web site last week were $299. I'm having mine R&R'd for $20 each($160), including the testing, etc. So although it'd be nice to have all new ones, the additional $140 is going towards powdercoating($300), hoses, etc. I've already figured that this will end up costing me at least $750. That includes all the hoses; lines; gaskets; connectors; heater valve; powdercoating; injector R&R; including about $70 to have the rear U shaped gas hose remade. Thats not including shipping/taxes for the injectors either. Cost me $18 alone to overnight them yesterday in state to ensure I have them back by Friday! Guess I'm glad I'm not paying also for someone's labor to go thru all this!

Fair enough. However they are availabe on e-bay for around $230 for a brand new set and they are the 3 nozle type units. They are better than the OEM single ones. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/24-LB...82175529QQrdZ1

One of my injectors failed last summer and because it failed while slowly opening less and less, it ended up blowing the headgasket. I've got a good set of slightly used replacement Ford injectors (blue top) that will replace the originals.

Painting the maniford is cleaper but they are not as durable as powder coating. Mine is painted and it scratches easily.

I hope this helps!

I don't believe fuel injectors "wear out"- No real moving parts... once the seals & pintels are R&R- they're essentially as good as new.

I'm not sure that is correct. As far as I know, rebuilding an injector is nothing more than an ultrasonic cleaning with new Orings/filter/pintle cap. I don't think they actually take the injector apart or do they?

I did the same job last winter, bought the Ford injectors from Summit 6/2005, price was only $219, not much more than refurbing the old injectors back then. They work great, if I remember right they had 4 nozzles per injector.

I replaced the gaskets, too much work not to replace them.

Car runs much smoother and stronger after an intake refurb, worth the effort.

Good luck with it.

I'm pretty much convinced that EVERY 928 with over75K miles has oil in the VEE. Some guys might be in denial just for the sheer hassle of repairing the problem. Last year @ a Timing - Belt Party- Guys put a paper towel on the end of one of those "CLAW" retractors, stuck it down into their block VEES, and it came up soaked with oil. In my experience, it was the awful smell of superheated raw oil after running very hard that persuaded me to Getter- Done. ( see pics above) Bimmer Mike knows...

I installed the Mark Robinson vacuum line kit on my '85 and came up one 90 degress connector short. I think the diagram he sent with mine showed the line ending without a connection but it does actually need a connector. I also swapped some of the routing/connectors around to attach all the required places.

Did you splice a line to connect to the transmission vacuum line? If so then you require a tee.

Has anyone discovered an alternative?

Yes, I got my breather hose from:

www.hosetechniques.com

Same place I bought my silicon boots for the intake and my vacuum line.
