I'm out of this project now, you'll need to contact Carl for the latest.

Ed discovered two things for us on his '91 - the first set of pipes we sent ran too close to the pavement right behind the transaxle crossbrace. We got those back and sent him a second set - and that problem has been resolved.

Ed also reported back that the pipes are a tad short on one end - about an inch.
I am correcting that in the manufacturing jig right now. Although the pipes fit the '85 that I took pictures of without a problem, we expect that the extra inch will also benefit that Model Year - at least it will not hurt that install.

Please understand the complexity here - that part we are developing is more challenging than either an X-pipe or a RMB. Our part is longer, has more bends, more obstacles to get 'round than either of those products.

If that weren't enough - we are trying to develop a single solution that will work with either a X pipe on one end (with or w/o cats) or the stock exhaust pipe with cats; and a RMB on the other end or the stock muffler.

Oh yeah - and fit the 87-95 with dual exhaust or convert the 85-86 with twin single exhaust and convert them to true-dual.

Its a lot to push into one design.

But - I have them fitted to a 85 and they sound great (video available on our website) and Ed's fitment tests on the '91 showed promise. We're close.

Just a footnote here....I did like the tone of these pipes better than what I have with my stock (short resonators) mid-exhaust pieces. With the X-pipe, short cats, Carl's setup, and an RMB, it sounded sweet!

I'd hoped to try the stock muffler, but due to the fitment issue, I couldn't make the connection, so that's still the unknown sound...

Any update here?

Has anyone tried out Carl's 'true dual exhaust' on an 85-86 with an x-pipe and no cats? With or
without RMB?

Sound level?

I think this old thread has been superceded by this one:
