Now I have another reason to watch it. I usually do anyway. Neato.

Anyone else notice how much more pavement is on that road now?

I think Kim did the Virginia City Hill Climb in the DEVEK White Car as well as a Mercedes. The White Car was faster. The VC run is 5.2 miles and lower altitude than PP. Carl is in for a serious challenge. PP is a hairy course. Best of luck to him! Wish I could be there.

Congratulation Carl,
If I can help, please let me know. I have some major wrenching experience on a 928 S4, and I am located in Denver.

cfc928gt - Perfect - that just the sort of help I was looking for.

As to thinning air and adjusting fuel mixtures... yes, I do believe the supercharger will really help with that issue (remember the centrifugal blowers installed on the P51 Mustangs in WWII so they could climb to higher altitudes?)

Secondly - I am still running K-Jet, and I expect it to adjust for the drop in air mass as i climb with little interruption. That's inherant within the design.

Here is the car I am running -

be sure to click on any picture you would like to see enlarged.

As a Pike's Peak rookie, in a 1978 Porsche 928 (with a all-1988 engine and drive-line) I do not expect to win. Lets not kid ourselves. Last year there was a 1000 HP Nissan Skyline entrant from Japan in THIS class. He crashed before reaching the top - but he spent $1M on his race effort.

We don't have that kind of money to throw around. I am a privateer with a few small sticker-sponsors.

Our goal is to survive it, get a great in-car video, and place somewhere in the middle of the pack. And to walk away with a great tale to tell.

Carl,
I don't have a lot of skills, but if you need the help, I'll ride up with Matt (Leaporboy) to help you out.

Carl
Right on!!!!! It will be great to get the 928 out there to show people whats its capable of.....sure its unlikely to win competing against some serious big $$$$ outfits......but I'm sure some of those same guys will be pissed shaking their heads after the race is over!!!

At the moment, I think there may only be two of us coming - and that's not enough for driving while we do the tire changes, fueling, and maintenance. If you are near Colorado Springs and can drive it like it's stolen - please let me know. Must be able to fit into the XL helmet with the two beer cans attached.

Good luck. Awesome opportunity to show what the 928 and your S/C set up can do to hang with the big boys.

Carl,
Congratulation!!

It is also fantastic to read so much support from the list to include a business competitor. That is what I call class.

Best wishes and keep us posted.
