How about engine cooling?

The road won't be open until May, maybe later this year. Right now, it's under several feet of snow.

Carl, I would volunteer my support, but you would be better off with people with more technical skills. If you need non-technical folks to help, let me know. It sounds like a fine time.

Maybe a Colorado meet to go with it?

ROAD TRIP!!!

Carl that's awesome. Good luck and keep everyone posted on this thread. Any chance of some in-car video? That sounds like one you might be able to sell.

Been there twice, first wa when Pugeout ran their last race and then again when Millen set the record. My first time the road was mostly dirt. Now it is like pavement all the way up. Should be a blast for you and the competition will be fierce. Looking forward to hearing the results.

The biggest issue is how to tune the car for 9,000 ft elevation up to 14,000 plus then setting up for the asphalt paved lower section now about 2/3 rds of the run running tires which can be soft enough for the decomposed granite( dirt) yet not totally get shreaded on the asphalt... Very cool of you to take on this challenge ; just being there makes you a winner !

No one is allowed to prcatice the entire race course - ever. You practice the bottom 4 miles on Wed, the middle 4 miles on Thursday, and the top 4 miles on Friday. On Saturday (race day) is the first time you will ever run the entire course contiguously.

Perhaps not such a dumb idea but with PC and Console driving games the way they are today, is there a PIKES PEAK course on any of them?

Won't its being supercharged mitigate that issue? It's always been my understanding that forced induction pretty much eliminates the high alitutude problems, but it's probably not that simple.

Yes, there is a Pikes Peak course on Grand Turismo (the third or the fourth version) for PS2. I remember it, it was difficult in the video game.

There a 2000 foot drop along the course with no stopping until you reach the bottom. Last time I was there few cars were drifting or oversteering. ONly later in the course and after some of the other cars had torn it up. It is a great race to watch from Devils playground.

Congratulations Carl! I'd love to help. I have a flexible schedule so count me in. I'll let the local Rocky Mtn Shark club know about it so we can make a show of support. We drove to the top of Mt Evans a couple years back, it's the highest paved road in the world at something like 14,200 ft and the cars were absolutely annemic at that altitude. Keep us posted
