Default Kickdown solenoid clicks when pedal near floor?

1982 3spd auto....When key is on but car not running, I depress the gas pedal and trans solenoid does not click until I am just about to the floor. Should that be right or should it be like 3/4 throttle before it clicks? How can I adjust if not correct?

Sounds right to me, the switch on my S4 is mounted on the the floor, the idea is hit it hard and away you go.

Sounds absolutely fine. The hardest part after kickdown activation is to keep your foot o it. Your natural tendency will be to slightly let go after activation and to cancel the kickdown.

So it should engage when pedal is mashed to floor only. Just wanted to make sure it should not be 3/4 throttle or something.
