Most of the locals call it "Lil Tally"... which helps since 'Talladega Super Speedway' and Talladega GPR' ain't that far apart in sound... and take way too long to say.

I have requested more info - including dates and whether or not they will let 928s participate. Waiting for an answer - I'll post as soon as I know more.

OK, finally got in touch with Tom (Lockheed now works what they call a 9-80 schedule, which is 80 hours in 9 days, with every other Friday off) and got some info...
Tom McDonald has built an SCCA GT car, and wants to test it out. He would like to put together a group to rent Talladega GPR.
Talladega GPR is a 1.33 mile road course. They run three cars at a time, no passing. Max of ten cars per group, $1200 per day.
Date to be mutually arranged, cost to be equally shared, sign up in advance. Any 928 owners near enough to Talladega to be interested are welcome...
If he gets ten people, it will cost $125 each. Fewer people will cost more - it probably isn't worth doing for fewer than six people.
If you are interested, contact Tom by email.

Feb 22 doesn't look good for some - March 15 is now being discussed. If you want to have your input considered, email Tom ASAP.

If there is any chance I can finish my car in time, March 15 is looking much better than February 22. I *might* actually be able to make March 15. Heck, if I don't finish the 928 in time, I'm sure my dad and I would still be interested in bringing my 993 and his 996 out. I'll send Tom an email.

An email from Tom McDonald, the person who is organizing an open track day...
Contact Tom directly if you are interested in participating.
Wally
I spoke with a representative from the Nagy Racing group who told me that the first session for cars is 3/22.
He sent me the forms to submit to TGP with a 50% deposit.
I know that Lockheed guys like to take advantage of the 9/80 Fridays off by scheduling a Thursday before the Friday off. This is a mixed group with half not from Lockheed. I don't really care about taking advantage of the Friday off and I'm open to any week day (that doesn't rain). I assume there are other folks who don't care.
Let's hear today what week day (not Friday) after 3/22 that YOU want to schedule and we'll try and make the most people happy and work around any individuals that have problems with particular days. Let's work it out today so we can grab a date. Try to pick a warm day around 72 degrees, preferably overcast with no rain. Also let me know what you are bringing to drive so I can make some sense of groups. Once we see what we have we can organize groups.
People have asked about track gas. If we let them know we would like an attendant they say they can arrange it. It's only 105 octane but SCCA legal if that matters to
you. We are required to have some rules so here goes. For an extra $25 they will have a set of flags available. Let's assume the flags are only displayed at the starter stand and apply to the entire track. We will take turns being starter. But someone will be in the starter box at all times and responsible for what happens on the track.
Also take a look at the TGP rules at http://www.tgprace.com/
FLAGS:
1. Passing is allowed on the Start/Finish Line straight only and only after the car to be passed has signaled. Please signal to the car behind you the side you expect to be passed. Providing there is a blue flag in the set and you see a blue flag displayed or being waved vigorously at you let the car behind through before the end of the start / finish straight. If you can't get it done complete another lap before attempting the pass.
2. Yellow flag applies to the entire track. It means there is some issue of concern on the track somewhere. No passing anywhere under yellow.
3. Checker is the end of the session. Exit the track at the next opportunity.
4. Green is the start of the session and an indication that the track is open.
5. Black means there is some problem with your car or your driving exit the track at the very next opportunity and see the starter.
6. Red means the course is shut down. Pull over and stop wherever you are.
From Atlanta
Take I-20 to exit 185 (Oxford) and travel South on Highway 21 for approximately 12 miles. TGPR is on the left.
From Birmingham
Take I-20 to exit 173 (Eastaboga), also known as the Studkey's exit. Head South on Highway 398 approximately one quarter mile. Take a sharp left immediately past the Shell station on the left onto Highway 399. Bear to the left to remain on 399. The road to the immediate right as you make the turn is Highway 005. It will get you to TGPR but it takes longer. Stay on Highway 399 until it dead ends into Highway 21 (approximately 7.5 miles). Take a left onto Highway 21 for 2.5 miles. TGPR is on the right.
From Talladega
Take Highway 21 North approximately 8 miles. TGPR is on the right
