Default Open Track Day at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway

One of the guys in our Auto Club at Lockheed Martin in Marietta Georgia is suggesting that we have a day at the track at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway.

Go to http://tgprace.com/about_track.htm to look at the track.

Let me know if anyone is interested, and I'll get the contact info and see if 928 Owners Club or RennList members are welcome...

That sounds great! Count me in. Would it be set up with beginners groups and seperate passing allowed groups for experienced drivers?

Oh, how I wish...sigh.
How much does a day at a track like this typically cost? I didn't see anything about that on the linked page...
Thanks,
Leslie

I'd love to go, but it will probably be 2 months or so before my car is finished. I was planning on getting a small group to go there once I finish the car to test it out before I go out on a big track with a big group.

I'd be interested in that as well...

I was supposed to have a track weekend there January 6th through 8th with Ed Bargy (motorcycles), but they cancelled it because the remodel was not yet complete...

I was on the track in the old configuration... and even lowsided my old CBR600F2 race bike there once... seemed small on a bike, can't imagine what i'd be like in the 928!

I didn't think they were scheduled to reopen until the Spring...
EDIT: Just checked their Calendar - re-opening the 2nd week of Feb!

Our local PCA had a D.E. there about this time last year. It was a BLAST...(prior to the 'remodel' - it was better suited to my 951...)

COUNT ME IN!

I hope the Wally track day doesn't fall on valentines day or something, track days have an uncanny ability to wind up on Mother's day or anniversarys.

Go as fast as I can on one of the worlds greatest racing facilitie's.............................................Yup, i'd just have to put a bullet in my brain after that. Life couldn't get any better.................wait.................now Danica Patrick sitting in the passenger seat...............................in a thong.........................

Ummm... just for clarification, the Tally he's talking about is "GPR"... it used to be 1.3 mile road course, but it's been modified to 1.5 miles over the past winter.... it's basically far away from the "Talladega" that you hear about on speedvision...

Now, just down the road in Leeds is Barber Motorsports Park... in my mind... that's the greatest facility in the world.

Oh, and thanks for that Danica Patrick visual...
